Chapter 246 - Chapter 246: A Breaking Curse That Goes Beyond Just This

The very next day after Amanda captured Fenrir Greyback, she and Hermione boarded the hogwarts express together.

As the express train finished accelerating and the scenery outside blurred completely, Harry and Ron pushed open the compartment door and walked in.

"Harry, Ron, good afternoon." Amanda nodded at the two boys with a calm expression.

"Good morning, Amanda." Harry and Ron nodded in response.

Hermione leaned against Amanda's shoulder and looked up at Ron. "How is Mr. Weasley doing?"

"He's fully recovered," Ron said, spreading his hands and plopping down into a seat. "Now he's busy every day handling the integration of Amanda's magic products with the Muggle World."

"Now that there are more opportunities to interact with the Muggle World, Dad has been buying all sorts of Muggle things for our home. Of course, we also have to thank Amanda for providing Dad with such a high salary."

Amanda let Hermione lean against her shoulder. Hearing Ron's words, she shook her head expressionlessly, her voice calm and cold. "I am simply providing Mr. Weasley with the compensation he deserves."

"In any case, Dad really loves his current job. I think even if Fudge and Umbridge leave the Ministry of Magic in the future, he'll still want to continue working in this position."

"I don't mind if Mr. Weasley holds positions at both the Ministry of Magic and my side simultaneously."

Amanda blinked, her indifferent expression carrying a hint of matter-of-factness.

"Of course, considering the pressure of handling both at once, I would continue to appropriately increase Mr. Weasley's salary if that were the case."

Listening to her beside Amanda, Hermione couldn't help but raise an eyebrow. As expected of her Amanda—she was already planning to poach a 'veteran' from the Ministry of Magic.

"It seems that if I become the Minister for Magic in the future, I'll have to raise employee salaries too, or else they'll be easily poached away."

Twirling Amanda's hair around her finger, Hermione spoke half-seriously and half-jokingly.

"When Hermione becomes the Minister for Magic, I will provide funding to the Ministry," Amanda said, turning her head to look at Hermione. "I will also transfer some special commercial projects to the Ministry; those aren't suitable to be held by me or any businessman."

Touching her nose, Hermione murmured softly, "It feels like I'm stealing your things..."

Feeling a slight warmth in her head, Amanda leaned down close to Hermione's ear. "Between Hermione and me, is there any talk of stealing?"

The finger Hermione was using to twirl Amanda's hair suddenly froze. She turned her head to find Amanda leaning right next to her ear.

Although she still lacked any expression, Hermione could clearly see a hint of a smile in her eyes.

"Mm," Hermione curled her lips into a smile, reached out to press the back of Amanda's head, and slowly kissed her. "You are all mine."

And of course, she was Amanda's.

How did things develop to this point? How were Amanda and Hermione already kissing?

They had only been sitting here for less than two minutes! Harry and Ron glanced at each other, tacitly choosing not to look at Amanda and Hermione across from them anymore.

"Ding-dong..."

When the chime sounded, the hogwarts express slowly pulled into the station at Hogwarts.

Amanda and Hermione separated after hearing the chime. Amidst Harry and Ron's silence, they picked up their luggage and walked out of the compartment hand-in-hand.

"Mate, I have a premonition that these kinds of situations—the ones that aren't very friendly to us—might happen frequently from now on."

Ron looked at Harry with a complicated expression. Harry's lip twitched, and he reached out to pat Ron on the shoulder.

"You're just realizing that now, Ron?"

He estimated this situation would only be alleviated on the day both he and Ron found girlfriends.

Until then, in the face of Amanda and Hermione's sweet interactions, the two of them would be the 'victims' acting as glowing third wheels.

After getting off the carriage and passing through the corridor into the Great Hall, Amanda led Hermione to their regular spots at the Ravenclaw Table and sat down.

As soon as they sat, Cho Chang and Marietta Eckmore, who had also just sat down, leaned over.

"How was your break?" Cho Chang looked at the two juniors with concern, her face wearing a full, gentle smile.

"Senior Cho Chang, Senior Marietta, good afternoon," Amanda greeted the two seniors politely. "The break was very good."

"Yes," Hermione nodded in agreement beside her. "A pleasant Christmas break."

"I saw The Daily Prophet. Amanda, you actually cured Mr. and Mrs. Longbottom!"

Penelope leaned over and patted Amanda's shoulder. At this, both Amanda and Hermione couldn't help but cast a confused look.

"Neither Hermione nor I subscribe to The Daily Prophet. May I ask, Senior Penelope, what did they write?"

How was her curing two people worth a report in The Daily Prophet? Amanda reached out to take the newspaper Penelope handed over, and Hermione immediately leaned in to read it with her.

"I guessed you wouldn't subscribe to The Daily Prophet, so I specifically saved the paper for you."

This was already a Daily Prophet from a few days ago. On the paper, the determined yet gentle smiling faces of Mr. and Mrs. Longbottom took up the largest space.

Above the photo was a line of bold characters: 'The Genius of Infinite Possibilities: Amanda, Awakening Heroes of the Past to Embrace the World of Today.'

"They're quite good at writing headlines."

Without any particularly special feeling, Amanda praised the headline written by The Daily Prophet editor extremely impartially.

"However, I don't think this is particularly worth reporting. In comparison, the entry of Wizarding World goods into Muggle World sales and the further communication between Wizarding World commerce and the Muggle World are more worthy of promotion."

"Please, Amanda," Marietta Eckmore looked at her junior helplessly. "You've resolved the after-effects of Crucio! This is an absolute, epoch-making advancement in Wizarding World medicine. Of course it's worth reporting."

"My method is not suitable for use by the broader staff of St Mungos Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries or doctors in the Wizarding Worlds of other countries. Therefore, it cannot be considered an epoch-making advancement in Wizarding World medicine; it can only be considered taking the first step."

"Then that's already amazing. Every step in the future will be built upon this first step."

After quickly scanning the report in The Daily Prophet, Hermione smoothed Amanda's hair with a pleasant mood.

The Daily Prophet's report this time was indeed very well-written, praising her Amanda to the heavens.

"However," Hermione frowned as she looked at the smiling, embracing Longbottoms in the paper, her eyes filled with deep concern, "with Mrs. and Mr. Longbottom appearing in the newspaper like this, will extremist Death Eaters try to retaliate against them now that they know they've recovered?"

"Don't worry, Hermione," Amanda said with immense calm and composure. "St Mungos Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries was the first place I began to reinforce as a hospital. Currently, St Mungos has achieved full coverage with Magic Floating Cannons."

"Even if Death Eaters go there, they won't get to see Mr. and Mrs. Longbottom."

In fact... Amanda looked at the couple in the newspaper who were smiling and waving at her. She had reasonable grounds to suspect that Mr. and Mrs. Longbottom had exposed themselves on purpose, wanting to draw out the Death Eaters hiding in the shadows.

After all, having been tortured into losing their self-awareness for so many years by the other side's accomplices—even missing their child's upbringing—it was only normal for Mr. and Mrs. Longbottom to want some form of catharsis.

"You always think a step ahead—no, several steps ahead of everyone else."

Being praised by Hermione caused a faint pink hue to rise on Amanda's face. "It's not that exaggerated..."

"By the way, Amanda, how is your progress on conquering the Blood Curse of the Blood Curse Beastmen and the Lycanthropy Toxin?"

Cho Chang remembered the research Amanda was conducting and asked out of concern for her junior's'scientific research'.

However, she estimated that Amanda's progress probably wouldn't be too smooth. After all, these were things no Wizard had ever been able to solve. Even the Wolfsbane Potion could only be brewed by a very few Potions Masters. For Amanda to completely conquer these two things—and even find a spell that could conquer both simultaneously—would be no easy feat.

Even for Amanda... it should take some time.

"Progress is going quite smoothly. Currently, the design of the specific spell has been completed, and it has fully passed the theoretical level. According to estimates, the success rate has reached over ninety percent. Now, all that's missing is a single real experiment."

"I have already captured Fenrir Greyback. I will begin the experiment very soon."

"According to the assessment, the Lycanthropy Toxin in Fenrir Greyback's body should be the most abundant and deepest. As long as the experiment on him is successful..."

"It will prove the successful development of the Breaking Curse, and it can be used for other Werewolves."

"You captured Fenrir Greyback?!"

Marietta Eckmore looked at Amanda with almost total disbelief. That was Fenrir Greyback—the shadow over every child in the entire British Wizarding World.

Which child in the British Wizarding World didn't fear Fenrir Greyback?

He would bite them to turn them into Werewolves, or in worse cases, they might even be eaten by Fenrir Greyback.

And now Amanda had actually captured him... but then again, thinking carefully, the one who did the capturing was Amanda.

Mm, Marietta Eckmore nodded in understanding; that made it feel much more reasonable.

Now, in the eyes of the Ravenclaw Little Eagles, there was no need to be shocked by anything Amanda did, because she could simply do anything.

"So the basic theoretical design of the Breaking Curse is already finished? It'll be successful soon?!" Cho Chang's focus was clearly different from Marietta Eckmore's.

"Yes," Amanda nodded with certainty. "With the help of the Breaking Curse, and calculated based on the magic capacity of a St Mungos doctor, one doctor can probably handle five patients in succession."

"Hiss..." Penelope sucked in a breath of cold air beside them, her eyes shining with excitement as she looked at Amanda. "As long as you succeed, Amanda, you will definitely be in the History of magic textbooks in the future."

Of course, in reality, the current Amanda was already an indispensable figure for future History of magic textbooks.

"Many people in the Wizarding World will be ecstatic." Marietta Eckmore chimed in with a smile.

The Werewolves would be very happy that they could finally return to normal, and their families would likely be very happy too.

Because they could finally be with their families without any reservations.

"Once you succeed, it'll be a dereliction of duty if the Ministry of Magic doesn't praise you for ten days straight."

Amanda opened her mouth, wanting to say that would be a waste of public resources, but in the end, she didn't speak the words.

"Lycanthropy Toxin, the Blood Curse of the Blood Curse Beastmen... if that's the case, then more than half of the Wizarding World's unique incurable diseases will have been settled."

Listening to Cho Chang's words, Hermione turned her head curiously. "Senior Cho Chang, do diseases like cancer and tumors also exist in the Wizarding World?"

"They do." Cho Chang nodded.

"Mm, they just aren't called by the names you just mentioned, but they're the same thing," Penelope added for her junior. "And just like in the Muggle World, these diseases are incurable even in the Wizarding World; they can only be alleviated through certain specific Potions and Charms."

Cancer, tumors... Amanda frowned slightly, suddenly realizing she had fallen into a mental trap!

She really had fallen into a trap! The Breaking Curse she had researched previously wasn't just for the Blood Curse and Lycanthropy Toxin.

She could use the principle of the Levitation Charm within the Breaking Curse to extract the curse and toxin from every single cell in a human body. Naturally, she could also use the Breaking Curse to extract every diseased cell from a human body, leaving none behind.

And because the principle of the Breaking Curse was the Levitation Charm—which was magic and acted upon the cells—if this treatment method were feasible, it could even completely replace surgery for the aforementioned two conditions, achieving truly non-invasive treatment... "Amanda, Amanda," Hermione reached out and nudged the person beside her. "What are you thinking about?"

Coming back to her senses, Amanda's eyes shone with obvious brilliance. There might not be many Blood Curse Beastmen and Werewolves in the Wizarding World.

But there seemed to be no shortage of people with those two diseases in the Muggle World. If it was truly as she thought, this Breaking Curse could save many, many lives.

Furthermore... Amanda's eyes swept over Hermione. Such 'life-saving events' could also become the best publicity for the Wizarding World, and the greatest capital of fame for Hermione's future entry into the Muggle World.

"My Breaking Curse is based on the Levitation Charm, using it to extract curses and toxins from every cell in the human body. Correspondingly, if it is converted to address the two aforementioned diseases..."

Before Amanda could finish her sentence, the four girls beside her all understood her meaning.

"Then you could levitate those two diseases out of the human body at the cellular level, and there wouldn't be any residue!"

Cho Chang's voice rose slightly, and her eyes began to tremble as she looked at Amanda.

If this Breaking Curse could really do what Amanda said, then appearing in The Daily Prophet would be the bare minimum for her in the future.

The entire world would know her name!

"Yes." Compared to the excitement shown by the other four girls, Amanda remained incredibly calm.

She was focused more on assessing and calculating whether this Breaking Curse could truly treat those two diseases. If so, roughly how many people it could save, and after saving them, how to handle the publicity to push the promotional effect for the Wizarding World to its peak.

A brief minute passed, and the most basic theoretical simulation was already complete in Amanda's mind, accompanied by the disease data of the simulated figure in her brain dropping to zero.

The corners of Amanda's mouth turned up. Her concept was a success.
