Far beyond the western forests…
Beyond the mountains where the Bloodheart domain held its crimson fortresses…
Beyond the valleys where vermin and beasts now moved under Kael's command…
There existed another territory.
A place where the forest did not feel alive.
A place where the ground itself seemed reluctant to breathe.
The eastern mountains.
Black stone cliffs rose like jagged teeth beneath a sky permanently stained with grey clouds.
The wind that passed through these mountains carried no scent of life.
No birds nested among the cliffs.
No beasts roamed the valleys.
Because this land belonged to something else.
Something that had turned the natural order of the world into a laboratory.
At the center of those mountains stood a fortress carved directly into the rock itself.
The fortress did not resemble a castle.
It resembled a wound.
The walls were not smooth.
They twisted and curved like veins hardened into stone.
Massive crimson pylons rose from the ground around the fortress, glowing faintly with rotating sigils that hummed with controlled authority.
Beasts moved inside the outer courtyard.
But they did not behave like animals.
Their movements were unnatural.
Disciplined.
Controlled.
A massive lion with metal claws paced beside a reptilian creature with wings that flickered with unstable energy.
A wolf with six eyes sat calmly near the entrance gates.
None of them roared.
None of them fought.
Because they were not free.
Each of them bore a glowing crimson mark somewhere on their body.
Marks of ownership.
Marks of control.
Marks of the Crimson Cull.
Inside the fortress…
The atmosphere grew colder.
Long hallways carved from black stone stretched through the mountain like veins.
Torches burned with deep crimson flame along the walls.
The scent of blood and metal lingered in the air.
This place was not built for comfort.
It was built for control.
And at the deepest chamber within the fortress…
Sat the man responsible for all of it.
The chamber itself was massive.
A circular hall with towering pillars rising toward a ceiling lost in darkness.
Strange devices lined the walls.
Chains.
Restraints.
Marking instruments.
Ancient relics used to bind beasts and bend them into submission.
At the center of the chamber stood a throne carved from dark stone.
Not decorated.
Not elegant.
Just heavy.
Immovable.
And sitting upon that throne…
Was a man.
Tall.
Pale.
Wrapped in dark robes lined with crimson threads.
His face looked calm.
Almost peaceful.
But the air around him felt heavy.
Oppressive.
Because five crimson sigils rotated slowly around his arm.
Each symbol burned with authority far greater than anything seen on the battlefield.
Tier-5.
The man resting upon the throne opened his eyes slowly.
Veydris Cull.
The Controller King.
For several seconds he did nothing.
He simply watched the floating projection hovering before him.
The projection showed a battlefield.
A valley.
A fallen Chimera.
Ashfang standing over its corpse.
Kael reaching into the creature's nervous system and seizing control.
The recording ended.
The projection vanished.
Silence filled the chamber.
A figure knelt several meters away from the throne.
One of the Cull's high controllers.
Tier-4.
The same man who had confronted Kael in the valley.
He remained kneeling.
Head lowered.
Waiting.
Veydris spoke calmly.
"So."
His voice echoed softly through the chamber.
"You lost."
The Tier-4 controller remained silent.
"Yes."
The Tier-5 man did not sound angry.
If anything…
He sounded curious.
"You fought the anomaly."
"Yes."
"And?"
The controller answered carefully.
"He is dangerous."
Veydris leaned back slightly against the throne.
His fingers tapped slowly against the armrest.
"I know."
The Tier-4 controller hesitated.
Then he spoke again.
"He survived direct authority pressure."
Veydris smiled faintly.
"Yes."
"That is what makes him interesting."
The chamber fell silent again.
The Tier-4 controller raised his head slightly.
"My lord."
"Yes?"
"We should eliminate him now."
Veydris laughed softly.
Not loudly.
But the sound carried unsettling calm.
"Eliminate him?"
He shook his head.
"No."
The controller frowned slightly.
"He has already begun interfering with our experiments."
"Yes."
"And he will continue."
"Yes."
"Then why allow it?"
Veydris stood slowly from his throne.
The moment he moved…
The entire chamber seemed to tighten.
Authority radiated from him like gravity itself.
The Tier-4 controller lowered his gaze again instinctively.
Veydris walked slowly across the chamber.
Each step echoed against the stone floor.
He stopped beside one of the containment chambers lining the walls.
Inside the glass enclosure…
A beast slept.
Or at least something that used to be a beast.
Its body resembled a serpent.
But its scales were made of dark crystal.
Its eyes glowed faintly crimson even while sleeping.
A prototype.
Veydris studied it quietly.
"Do you know why the anomaly interests me?"
The Tier-4 controller remained silent.
Veydris answered the question himself.
"Because he should not exist."
He turned slowly.
"The vermin system."
"The crimson authority."
"Two incompatible structures."
"And yet…"
His crimson eyes gleamed faintly.
"…they are merging."
The Tier-4 controller finally understood.
"You wish to observe him."
Veydris nodded slightly.
"Yes."
The man returned to his throne.
"And more importantly…"
He sat down slowly.
"…I wish to see what he becomes."
The Tier-4 controller frowned.
"My lord, he is forming alliances."
Veydris smiled.
"Yes."
"Bloodheart."
"Yes."
"Void Clan rebels."
"Yes."
"Libertas."
"Yes."
The Tier-5 controller folded his hands together.
"Good."
The Tier-4 controller hesitated.
"My lord?"
Veydris's smile widened slightly.
"War produces evolution."
He gestured toward the fortress outside.
"Every creature here was once something weaker."
"Conflict forced them to grow."
The man's voice softened slightly.
"And Kael Valeborn…"
"…is growing very quickly."
The Tier-4 controller spoke carefully.
"He destroyed one of our prototypes."
Veydris shrugged.
"That Chimera was flawed."
He leaned slightly forward.
"But the next one will not be."
Silence returned.
Then Veydris spoke again.
"Send another experiment."
The Tier-4 controller looked up.
"What kind?"
The Tier-5 man's crimson eyes gleamed with faint amusement.
"A monster."
Something shifted inside the fortress.
Deep below the chamber.
Something large.
Something alive.
Veydris continued calmly.
"Let the anomaly fight again."
His gaze drifted toward the western forests.
Toward Libertas.
Toward Kael.
"If he survives…"
"…then he may be worthy of meeting me."
The Tier-4 controller bowed his head.
"As you command."
Far away in the western forest…
Kael felt something.
A sudden chill passed through the vermin network.
Thousands of rats shifted uneasily.
Spiders abandoned their webs.
Birds changed direction mid-flight.
Ashfang lifted his head suddenly.
"…Watching."
Kael's eyes narrowed.
Yes.
Something was watching.
And it had just decided…
To let him grow.
