Chapter 14 - A Calm Disaster

(A/N: The 'Yuta is a bum' agenda continues moving without pause)

The students along with one of Fushiguro's demon dogs charged into the detention center, ready for anything to come their way.

"Hold up!" Fushiguro called out, stopping the group.

Looking around, the students saw that the detention center had been warped and twisted almost beyond recognition.

"What the hell is this?" Kugisaki asked while looking up.

"What's going on here?" Itadori asked, "I thought this was only a two-story dorm, isn't it?" he wondered.

"Well, maybe it's a condo. Chill out," Kugisaki responded, worried.

'An Innate Domain, not quite a Doman Expiation, but still bad' Matteo thought, turning back to the door, well, where the door was.

"Door's gone," Matteo noted.

"Impossible!" Itadori exclaimed, looking back at where they came from.

But all that was behind them was a mess of pipes; there was no door in sight.

"No way! We just came through that door a few seconds ago," Kugisaki said while pointing at the pipes.

"What'll we do? What'll we do? It's a major problem," Itadori and Kugisaki sang.

"It'll be fine," Fushiguro interrupted, "The dog remembers the scent of the entrance," Fushiguro explained.

"Oh, good," the two said.

Itadori and Kugisaki then began to pet the dog.

"Who's a good boy! Huh?" Itadori said.

"You can have all the beef jerky you want!" Kugisaki exclaimed.

Matteo scratched the dog's head before moving his hand to hold the dog's snout.

"I'm so sorry," he whispered, looking into the dog's eyes.

"Huh?" Kugisaki said, turning to Matteo but not quite hearing him.

"Stop messing around!" Fushiguro exclaimed.

"You rock, Fushiguro, you're a pro!" Itadori told his friend, "Thanks to you, we can rescue some people and save ourselves!" he explained.

Fushiguro chose not to correct Itadori.

"Let's keep moving," Fushiguro then said.

Without another word, the students walked farther into the twisted detention center. They walked over short steps and under odd pipes that seemed to connect something far, far off in the distance.

They then entered into what Matteo could guess to be the bottom of a drained pool. Blue bricks surrounded them along with several drains.

And in the middle of the drained pool, were three dead bodies.

Two were only recognizable through their dental records, and the other was cut in half horizontally. The only thing left is his upper half.

Itadori, seeing the bisected man, quickly rushed over to the body to check on it.

"Horrible," Kugisaki commented.

"Looks like three victims, right?" Fushiguro counted.

Checking up on the body, Itadori noticed that the body had a name tag on it.

'Okazaki Tadashi' it read.

"See the body? Good, let's move," Matteo said.

"Let's take this body back with us," Itadori said, looking at the body's face, "This is that woman's son; his face isn't too mangled. How will she accept his death if we can't show her a body to prove it? " Itadori explained.

Matteo looked around, searching for the curse he knew was coming.

"We still have to find and verify two more," Fushiguro said, grabbing Itadori by the hood of his uniform, leave that body behind," he ordered.

"That makes no sense! The way we got inside isn't even there anymore!" Itadori refuted, "We won't be able to come back for it later!" he added.

"I didn't say we'd come back! I said leave it behind!" Fushiguro repeated, "I'm not about to risk my own life for someone I had no intention of saving in the first place! So forget it," he said.

"You had no intention of saving him?" Itadori asked, grabbing Fushiguro on the shoulder, "Are you kidding?" he asked.

"It's a juvie detention center, and as a Jujutsu Sorcerer, I had access to information about this guy," Fushiguro explained, "Tadashi here, hit and killed a little girl on her way home from school, and that was his second offence," Fushiguro spat out with disdain.

Looking at the walls, Matteo saw the head of the dog splattered on the wall.

"I know you're keen on this idea of saving lots of people and guiding them to proper deaths. But think, how are you going to feel when someone you save goes on to kill someone else later?" Fushiguro questioned.

"Dog's dead!" Matteo interrupted, "Curse's here!" he yelled out.

Itadori and Fushiguro both let go of each other. Then, Fushiguro looked over to his dog and noticed what Matteo saw. His demon dog's head splattered against the wall.

'What happens next?' Matteo thought to himself, 'Kugisaki!' he realized.

Matteo turned to where Kugisaki was and saw that she was pulling out her hammer and nails.

"Kugisaki move!" Matteo yelled out, running up to her.

Kugisaki attempted to leap away, but a sudden hole underneath her took away the ground she tried to jump on.

However, before she fully fell in, she used the hammer, which was already in her hand, to catch herself on the ledge of the hole.

"Thanks for the warning," Kugisaki thanked.

"No problem," Matteo said, holding out his hand.

Kugisaki used her free hand to grab Matteo's hand, but as she did, curses that looked like porcelain faces popped up from the hole and bit onto Kugisaki and dragged her down, taking Matteo down the hole as well.

Falling down the hole, Matteo was scared. If he were up there with Itadori and Fushiguro, he would know what to expect.

But as he fell on the floor, Matteo looked into an endless darkness, holding curses that he didn't know anything about.

Kugisaki, who landed much more gracefully than Matteo, began to look for any danger that might be nearby.

Suddenly, Kugisaki snapped her head to something behind her. Following Kugisaki's line of sight, Matteo saw the face that dragged them down.

And another face, and another face, and several more porcelain faces that all looked very similar to each other. Along with a few floating eyes

Matteo didn't know if the porcelain faces were clones of each other or if they all were created from one root cause.

"So, how many bubbles can you shoot out?" Kugisaki asked.

"As many as needed, but they don't do much damage," Matteo replied, "How many nails you got?" he asked in return.

"Thirty-five, but I'm thinking I didn't bring enough," Kugisaki answered.

"Fushiguro should be here at some point," Matteo said, "So all we need to do is stall," he explained.

"Should be?" Kugisaki asked.

"How lucky are we?" Matteo asked.

"I get it, welp," Kugisaki said, throwing up a nail, "Let's go," she said, slamming her hammer into the nail, sending it flying into one of the porcelain faces.

The nail flew quickly through the air before hitting the forehead of one of the porcelain faces, causing it to fall. Though before the face even hit the ground, two more flew in from the darkness to take its place.

"On it," Matteo replied, flying bubbles into the porcelain faces.

Matteo's first few bubbles knocked them back, but the other fifty bubbles began to crack one of the faces. Though before the remains of the curse hit the ground, three more took their place.

Matteo Check Up.

There was that one anime, 'JoJo's Bizarre Adventure' I remember liking the first two parts, but I never watched anything more than that.

It wasn't out of dislike for the show, I just got into JJK and that took up most of my time.

I wonder what happened it it's later episodes, I heard it was pretty good. I remember hearing something about stands.
