The cursed spirit hid behind a veil–A sort of thin sheet of reality that covers the manifestation until they choose to step out. Being capable of moving between the two veils of reality at will. Haisei couldn't exactly recall a portion of the fiction that mentioned anything about the realm of curses.
Something to research. He noted before giddily focusing his expanded attention on the creature. The more he analyzed, the more he began to fundamentally understand the work at hand.
So the curse is currently confined within a barrier. From the looks of the cursed remains, the markings make me think that this is a trap of some sort. Haisei hummed, putting two ideas together in the blink of an eye.
This is the work of a cursed user or a sorcerer. Regardless, I don't recall cursed spirits behaving in this manner unless it's tied to a catalyst–It's summoner. He simply observed, letting the blurry spots fill in within his mind.
Moments of shared silence passed like a breeze in the wind, cutting through his senses and entering from the far east edge of his 650-meter radius. His brow twitched and furrowed deeper than it already was.
And who are you? Their signature isn't the same as that from that day. A whole bunch of sorcerers have looked over Mom and me. They must not have any clue about me. To that, he felt a bit of relief, but he could only hold his breath as he watched as a man came further and further into his mental view–Details coming across clearer with every second.
Wait a second, Haisei felt his face contort as a tingle of recognition shot through his body. Is that Yaga? He looks younger than he did in the anime. Is he younger? Haisei blinked, realizing that he didn't even have a timeframe for when he entered this world.
Ah shit… If he's young, then Gojo and Geto are most likely still running around the Tech School. He paused, keeping a lingering line of attention on both his Cursed Spirit and the increasing Yaga Masamichi.
His thoughts were halted when another presence broke into his domain of senses. A woman. Haisei felt uneasy seeing the two merge, exchanging words before they both disappeared in opposite directions, Yaga taking the northern building, ahead of the curse Haisei was watching, while the other sorcerer took the south.
Coming in from both open ports of the alleyway and leaving the curse with no way to go but up.
Haisei sat back and relaxed, realizing the gold that could possibly land in his lap. In the show, simply observing curse techniques and the flow of cursed energy offered insight into its inner workings. Tools for my growth. Shifting in his cradle, a loose, shaky breath full of anticipation escaped his four-month-old lips.
. . .
Kaori huffed as she positioned herself atop a shop's roof. Overlooking the supposed hideout of a low-grade curse causing terror on the streets at night. Typically, showing up in the morning wouldn't be the best idea, but Yaga convinced her otherwise.
I hope this is over quickly. She adjusts the bow on her back. Shifting uneasily as chills race down her spine like a spindle of webs. Shaking her head, she taps her earpiece, "Yaga. Come on with it, will you? This place gives me the creeps." Feels like I got eyes on me everywhere. She steeled herself.
Her mind back on the mission, she paced around for a couple of moments before Masamichi got back to her. ["Impatient brat… I'm in position. We need something to draw that curse out; there has to be a sequence or target range it's attracted to."] His voice fizzled out in her ear, her senses stressing her out.
Ugh, jeez. Whoever is watching needs to make their move! I'm getting antsy.
Her hips swayed with her stance. Arms crossed in her black leather combat jacket–Its silver buttons matching the intricate silver linings on her compound weapon.
Her fingers tapped impatiently, so she quelled her unease by approaching the edge of the building and peering over into the dark path below. Seeing nothing but voidful darkness, she frowned. That much darkness in the alley, even though it's sunny out?
She tapped her ear, "Hey, Yaga, this may be more than simple barrier sorcery. This area down here is a completely different space–Unaffected by light."
She leaned further, getting a glimpse of the never-ending darkness on full scale. Eventually, she forgot about the whole stress of being watched in the first place. After multiple moments of silence, she couldn't ignore the feeling of something being wrong.
"Yaga?" She called out into space once more, sinking further and further into her instincts as she whipped her head around–A hand gripping her bow while the other held its fingers splayed, the air within her palms shimmering with heat as she prepared her ability.
Something happened to him that quickly?! It wasn't even a minute apart from when we spoke. What did we walk into? She swallowed any and all heavy feelings as she churned them into her fuel.
Stepping up and over the ledge, she looked around once more, frowning before she closed her eyes. Steadying her breath–Once, twice, and on the third she whipped her bow string backwards, and she held her aim strong.
Eyes closed the entire time, she hooked an arrow made of pure, shimmering bluish energy that trembled in and out of existence within the string. She peered with one eye and let the arrow loose, enjoying its fast pace fizzle out of sight as it traveled near light speeds towards its target.
She immediately hopped down into the alleyway, letting herself be enveloped in darkness and carried to the barrier traps' location.
Maybe that will teach you a thing or two about stalking.
. . .
Opening his eyes wide, Haisei slammed his hands at his side and shattered his cradle, hitting the floor with a dull thud before frantically extending his arms forward towards his mother's bed legs.
Come on, come on! The moment his palms connected with the cool wooden legs, his body lurched forward like a bullet, zipping quickly and quietly atop his baby blanket, which he was partially wrapped in.
Moments later, a bright, large, and incredibly fast arrow whizzed through the room–Burning straight through the walls and evenly out the otherside. Haisei's chest heaved crazily, though he calmed down rather quickly.
He felt his mother was all right and that the one who had fired the arrow was the sorcerer he had been secretly spying on. A move I wouldn't expect from a sorcerer… That's more likely a cursed user… His thoughts were interrupted by the sizzle of drywall and the crackle of exposed wires. He whipped his head behind him, wondering when his mother would react when–
"What the actual f*ck!? Just one day! One day! God! F*ck!" And Haisei's ears were overwhelmed with stomping feet and the urge to give into the humorous edge that rode the coattails of the sudden chaos.
However, his glee hid elsewhere.
He had been utilizing his Observation Haki the entire time; that's how he knew that he had been compromised–Solely off of instinct and cursed energy-infused senses was beyond insanity in Haisei's mind.
Considering he has the three forms of haki, and he knows their future potential. He didn't dwell on it too much– Gojo can do it, so I should expect other powerhouses can too… But an arrow? I've never heard of such a character before… He shook his head.
Nevermind that. He grinned, feeling his mother close in on his position. I felt her use cursed energy. The sensation–The flow… It's all here.
