Chapter 23 - CHAPTER TWENTY THREE

Yu Weiwei suddenly recalled how the primordial dragon beast cub had been drooling and how the crimson beast had wanted the injured Lily. It was probably the blood that had enticed them.

Although Lily herself knew nothing about her bloodline, beasts were far more sensitive to bloodline auras than humans.

Unfortunately, a bloodline this special was both a blessing and a curse.

If discovered by the wrong people, she would become a target.

Yu Weiwei quietly withdrew his spiritual sense without revealing anything.

His thoughts grew increasingly heavy.

How many gifted people throughout the Federation were just like Olivier and Lily?

How many extraordinary talents remained buried simply because no one knew they existed?

The more he learned about this era, the more convinced he became that humanity's cultivation inheritance had truly been severed.

They possessed countless treasures...

Yet none of them knew how to uncover them.

Yu Weiwei unconsciously lowered his gaze.

It seemed...

He needed to accelerate his research.

Not only to repair damaged mental cores, but also to awaken the countless talents sleeping within humanity.

Not long after making that decision, Yu Weiwei received another piece of unexpected information.

The Harts family approached him shortly before he was ready to leave.

The old patriarch hesitated for a moment before finally speaking.

"Young Master Yu, there is something we almost forgot to give you."

Yu Weiwei looked at him.

"Something?"

The patriarch nodded and carefully took out a small box from a storage cabinet.

"It was entrusted to our family by Mr. Lin Zhe a long time ago."

The moment Yu Weiwei heard that name, his expression changed slightly.

"Father?"

"Yes."

The patriarch held the box out with both hands.

"He told us that if you ever came here, we were to give it to you. We didn't know what was inside, and he never explained its purpose."

Yu Weiwei stared at the box for several seconds before accepting it.

It was an ancient brocade box.

Its surface was dark brown, with intricate patterns woven into the fabric. The patterns were so fine that they almost seemed to move whenever light passed over them.

There was no lock.

Instead, a faint spiritual fluctuation lingered around the entire box.

Yu Weiwei's eyes narrowed.

He sent a strand of spiritual power toward it.

The moment his spiritual power touched the box, the patterns on its surface briefly shimmered.

Then everything became still again.

It could only be opened with spiritual power, and it seemed that he couldn't open it yet.

Yu Weiwei's expression darkened.

"Of course."

Another mystery.

Recently, it seemed as though mysterious things had begun piling up around him one after another.

The disappearance of his parents.

The Truth Seer.

The strange bloodline hidden within Lily.

The spiritual mine beneath Sea Sky Planet.

And now a box that his father had deliberately left behind.

He really hated this feeling.

He preferred knowing exactly what he was dealing with.

Unfortunately, the more he investigated, the more he realized that this universe was determined to keep secrets from him.

Yu Weiwei put the box into his space.

"Thank you."

The Harts family patriarch visibly relaxed.

"We were only carrying out Mr. Lin's instructions."

Yu Weiwei nodded and didn't ask any further questions.

There was no point.

If Lin Zhe had wanted him to know what was inside, he would have left an explanation.

Since he hadn't, Yu Weiwei could only wait until he was able to open the box.

Before leaving, however, Yu Weiwei spent two more days there.

He also temporarily turned off his livestream.

There were still many things he needed to investigate, and he didn't want the public following his every movement.

During those days, he occasionally walked through the village.

It was while watching several villagers roast potatoes over a simple fire that an old memory suddenly surfaced.

He could feel the traces his parents had left behind here.

Lin Zhe had apparently taught the villagers quite a few things during his time here.

Herbs.

Medicinal plants.

Natural food.

Even some relatively simple cooking methods.

Unfortunately, most of the knowledge was far too complicated for the villagers to remember completely.

After all, they had lived for generations relying on nutrient solutions and processed food.

Things like identifying herbs, understanding their properties, controlling fire temperatures, and properly preparing natural ingredients were completely foreign to them.

In the end, the only thing they had managed to preserve reasonably well was roasting potatoes.

Yu Weiwei looked at the potatoes turning slowly over the flames.

He couldn't help but smile faintly.

His fathers really had left traces of themselves everywhere.

It was just that most people didn't realize how valuable those traces were.

After spending enough time with the villagers, Yu Weiwei finally decided it was time to leave.

He called the little primordial dragon beast over.

The cub immediately scrambled toward him, its tiny body bouncing excitedly as it followed him. It had been thoroughly fed by the residents, and its stomach was stuffed as it staggered toward Yu Weiwei.

"Let's go."

The cub hummed.

Yu Weiwei picked it up and placed it securely in his arms before using his Lightfoot martial arts.

He did not return to Greenveil City but instead went deep into the forest.

He followed the faint spiritual fluctuations he had sensed beneath Sea Sky Planet.

The spiritual vein was deeper than he had initially expected.

It stretched beneath the planet's surface like a gigantic dragon buried beneath the earth.

Yu Weiwei followed its path for several hours.

The farther he went, the denser the spiritual energy became, and the more dangerous the surroundings were.

Eventually, he arrived at a remote mountain range.

A narrow crack appeared between two enormous rocks.

Yu Weiwei's spiritual sense swept through it.

His expression suddenly became solemn.

There was something inside.

Something extremely powerful.

He stepped into the cave.

The temperature immediately dropped.

A terrifying pressure descended from the depths.

The little primordial dragon beast cub instantly stopped moving.

Its tiny body trembled.

Yu Weiwei's expression changed.

"Stay behind me."

The cub obediently shrank closer to him.

A low hiss suddenly echoed through the darkness.

Then two enormous golden eyes slowly opened.

A gigantic serpent emerged from the depths of the cave.

Its body was covered in dark scales that shimmered with a faint golden radiance.

Two bulges protruded from its head.

Its pupils were vertical and cold.

As it slowly raised its head, Yu Weiwei finally understood why the cave felt so oppressive.

This wasn't an ordinary beast.

It was a creature that had already surpassed the SSS rank.

Yu Weiwei's pupils contracted.

Impossible.

In the Federation's current records, SSS rank was already considered the absolute pinnacle.

There had never been any recorded existence above it.

Yet the creature before him had clearly surpassed that boundary.

And judging from its appearance...

It was no longer merely a snake.

It had already begun evolving toward a dragon.

The serpent stared at Yu Weiwei.

Then its gaze shifted toward the little primordial dragon beast in his arms.

A terrifying killing intent erupted.

Yu Weiwei's expression immediately turned cold.

"Don't even think about it."

The primordial dragon beast had dragon bloodline flowing through its body. When two creatures with dragon bloodlines encountered each other, it meant that one of them would eventually devour the other.

The serpent might not have been hostile toward him, but the moment it perceived the dragon bloodline within the cub, a murderous intent arose within it.

Boom!

The serpent attacked.

Yu Weiwei's figure vanished.

A massive tail swept through the cave, shattering several enormous rocks.

Yu Weiwei reappeared several meters away and immediately launched a counterattack.

His spiritual power surged.

The battle erupted in an instant.

The difference in their ranks was enormous.

Even with all his experience, Yu Weiwei found himself being steadily pushed backward.

The serpent's physical strength was terrifying.

Its scales were harder than most defensive treasures, and every movement contained enough force to collapse a mountain.

Yu Weiwei continuously shifted through space, avoiding its attacks while searching for weaknesses.

He had fought countless powerful enemies throughout his previous lives.

Experience was the only reason he could remain standing.

His space pocket also contained countless strange treasures accumulated over the years.

Some were defensive.

Some were offensive.

Others had strange and unexpected effects.

He threw one after another without hesitation.

Boom!

The serpent roared.

Yu Weiwei's expression became increasingly serious.

He could win against opponents stronger than himself.

But this creature was simply too powerful.

And because he had to protect the primordial dragon cub at the same time, he couldn't fight without restraint.

The cub was too young.

One careless attack could kill it instantly.

Yu Weiwei dodged another sweep of the serpent's tail and immediately moved the cub behind a spatial barrier.

"Stay there."

The cub cried anxiously.

Yu Weiwei ignored it.

He raised his hand.

A massive amount of spiritual power gathered around him.

The serpent lunged again.

Yu Weiwei was forced to retreat.

The cave shook violently.

At that moment, something slipped from inside his space.
