Li Cuicui was unwilling to do that and instead urged Gu Wenheng, "You two need to search carefully. I'm going back to dig around some more; who knows, I might turn up something else.
"And don't be too honest. Keep whatever you find strictly to yourselves. It's best if you turn this place upside down before the foreman and his crew get here."
She repeated her instructions several times. Only when Gu Wenheng and Jin Qianqian nodded in agreement did she rush off like a whirlwind.
Jin Qianqian looked thoughtfully toward the village. "It seems this place wasn't poor in the past. Even after being cleared out by the government troops, there are still a few hidden treasures left behind."
"I'm guessing the soldiers who came to clear the area just wanted to finish their mission early," Gu Wenheng said. "They were probably afraid of lingering plague and didn't search very thoroughly."
"Why did you agree to Mother's request?" she asked. "Aren't you afraid of trouble down the line?"
