The original wound didn't heal the way it usually did.
Instead, it kept expanding, as if something inside was struggling to break free.
Riiip—
The sound of flesh tearing was unbearable.
Combined with Obadiah Stane's inhuman screams, it was like a demon whispering straight from hell.
The next moment, Tony Stark's pupils shrank.
A snow-white bone spike slowly pushed its way out of Obadiah's arm wound.
It kept growing—
Until it fully transformed into a bone blade tens of centimeters long, gleaming with a chilling, deadly sheen.
"Tony… you didn't expect this, did you?" Obadiah sneered."This serum didn't just give me power—it gave me near immortality. And my evolution speed… far exceeds anything else."
Before the words even finished—
BOOM!
Obadiah kicked off the ground and launched himself like a cannonball straight at Tony.
Too fast.
Tony didn't even have time to form a nano-shield. He could only roll clumsily to the side.
Slash!
The attack missed Tony—but the bone blade sliced clean through a streetlamp behind him like it was tofu.
"If you need help, you can ask me,"said Peter Parker, watching from the air with casual interest."As Superman, I'm always happy to help people."
"No need!" Tony snapped."I haven't lost yet!"
Tony sprang up as jets of flame erupted beneath his feet, blasting him into the air.
"So he finally remembered he's a ranged DPS?" Peter muttered.
Hovering midair, confidence returned to Tony's face.
Nano-particles swirled around his arm, rapidly reshaping into a massive energy cannon.
Red light condensed violently.
A suffocating sense of danger locked onto Obadiah below.
ROAR—
Obadiah wasn't stupid.
He sprinted erratically across the ground, hurling anything he could grab into the air while Tony continued charging.
It worked—partially.
Dodging the incoming debris disrupted Tony's balance, slowing the charge.
But after several seconds—
Maximum output achieved.
JARVIS locked the target squarely on Obadiah's head.
"I don't believe anyone can regenerate after losing their head."
Tony had made up his mind.
He was going to kill.
But Obadiah sensed it.
His already terrifying speed spiked again.
"JARVIS—YOU MISSED!"
The beam didn't hit his head.
Instead, it struck his left side.
Even so—
Half his body was instantly vaporized.
The remaining energy punched straight into the ground, drilling a bottomless crater.
Tony turned, pride written all over his face.
"Well? Not bad, right?" he said smugly to Peter.
"…Yeah," Peter replied slowly."But you're celebrating too early."
Tony's unease hit just a moment too late.
A "rope" suddenly lashed up from the ground, wrapping tightly around his body—and yanked him down hard.
Only then did he realize—
That wasn't a rope.
It was Obadiah's spilled intestines.
Chapter 62 — The Train, Gwen, and the Monster
Tony slammed into the ground.
Obadiah dragged his mangled body forward, face twisted with savage delight.
He raised his bone blade horizontally.
They were trying to pull Tony into it—to slice him clean in half.
"…Enough."
Peter's gaze sharpened.
Twin beams of golden light shot from his eyes, instantly severing the fleshy restraints.
In the same instant, his figure vanished—
And reappeared right in front of Obadiah.
Peter exhaled.
Freezing breath engulfed Obadiah, turning him into a solid ice sculpture.
Crack.
One punch.
The ice—and Obadiah—shattered completely, reduced to dust.
"If you come back after that," Peter said flatly,"then I'll be impressed."
He didn't even look back.
His figure rose into the sky and disappeared.
Tony lay there, shaken, staring at what was left.
Minutes Earlier — A Train Outside New York
A train thundered along a railway on the outskirts of New York City.
"Oh my God—there's another monster in New York!"
It was late at night.
The passengers had been half-asleep—until a scream jolted the entire carriage awake.
"Check your phones! It's real! There's really a monster!"
Panic spread.
"Is it like the one Superman fought last time?"
Soon, news footage confirmed it.
"Thank goodness it's far away. We should be safe for now."
The train was heading out of the city.
People relaxed—slightly.
"New York's been a disaster lately… thank God for Superman. I hope everyone's okay."
Then—
"Uh… does the monster look like that?"
A passenger by the window stared in horror.
Outside—
A huge green monster was sprinting alongside the train.
"No… no, I don't want to die!"
"Stop the train! Someone tell the conductor!"
Screams erupted as chaos filled the carriage.
On the roof—
The monster leapt.
BOOM!
The metal roof caved inward from the impact.
Passengers screamed and fled between cars.
The creature kept running, jumping—
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Heavy impacts rolled across the train like thunder.
Fear crushed everyone together.
Then—
"Look! It's Spider-Man! She's here to save us!"
Outside the window, a white figure swung through the night on webbing.
"It's really Spider-Man! Thank God—we're saved!"
But Gwen Stacy didn't rush in blindly.
She swung between skyscrapers, thinking fast.
The monster was insanely strong—and completely irrational.
At this speed, one mistake could derail the entire train.
That's why she hesitated.
"…No."
Her eyes hardened.
"We can't wait any longer."
