Chapter 45Tori's POVThe castle had been unusually quiet since morning, and honestly, I hated it.
There was something unsettling about silence in a place like this because it never truly meant peace. It only meant everyone was hiding something.
I sat beside the window while staring blankly outside, my fingers tracing absent patterns against the fabric resting on my lap. The sky looked dull and grey today, covered heavily with clouds that made the entire castle feel colder somehow.
Ever since the council announced the hearing, tension had spread throughout the castle so badly that even the servants seemed terrified to speak too loudly. Guards stood around every corridor now, their hands constantly resting near their swords as though they were expecting war to break out at any moment.
Honestly, maybe they were right to expect that.
Nothing about this place felt stable anymore.
Not Kael.
Not the council.
Not even the brothers themselves.
