Riven's POV
I hated silence.
Not because it was uncomfortable, but because silence always gave people too much time to think.
And lately, thinking had become my biggest problem.
The hallway was unusually quiet as I walked through the castle with one hand tucked behind my back, my boots echoing faintly against the stone floors while servants immediately lowered their heads each time I passed them.
Usually, I enjoyed that reaction.
Fear made people predictable.
But tonight, I barely paid attention to any of them because my thoughts were somewhere else entirely.
Tori.
Just the thought of her name alone irritated me immediately.
I pushed open the doors leading toward the west wing balcony before stepping outside. The cold night breeze brushed harshly against my skin, yet it still did nothing to calm the frustration building inside my chest.
This was ridiculous.
Absolutely ridiculous.
Out of all people, why the hell was it her?
