Chapter 223 - Chapter 211: The Chase

"Your Majesty, are you alright?"

Helena ran over and helped Hippolyta up.

"I'm fine, but they..."

Hippolyta turned around and looked at the sealed temple, listening to the roars and screams of the Amazon warriors coming from inside.

The white fortress was shaking as countless stones rolled down.

Hippolyta pulled Helena back and joined up with her Royal Guard.

BOOM!

A huge sound came from behind them as the cliff supporting the fortress collapsed into the sea.

Seeing this scene, it felt as though something inside Hippolyta had collapsed as well.

She handed the Mother Box to a Royal Guard wearing a red cloak with golden trim.

"Protect it with your life."

The guard answered solemnly, "Yes, my Queen."

Hippolyta patted her warhorse.

"Keep moving."

"Don't stop."

The Royal Guard immediately turned around and galloped away from the temple.

At that moment, Hippolyta glanced at the figure floating in the sky, but said nothing.

She walked to the edge of the cliff, removed her helmet, and observed a moment of silence for the dead.

Helena led over two warhorses and said, "Your Majesty, we should go."

Hippolyta let out a light sigh and was about to leave when she saw the sea below, churned by the collapse of the fortress, suddenly boil.

Then one Parademon after another burst out of the water, rose into the air, and flew overhead toward the retreating Royal Guard.

"No... no."

Hippolyta stepped back and suddenly saw Steppenwolf leap high from the sea, cross the sky, and head into the distance.

The Amazon Queen looked up.

The figure in the sky remained where he was, showing no intention of stopping Steppenwolf or the Parademons.

In the air, Steppenwolf had already noticed Alex.

He found it strange that there was a man on Paradise Island.

But since the other side showed no intention of interfering, Steppenwolf did not want unnecessary trouble.

In the blink of an eye, he passed by Alex and continued on.

Alex folded his arms and turned with a smile.

He watched Steppenwolf raise his battle axe.

As Steppenwolf landed, the axe wrapped in yellow lightning slammed into the ground.

A mass of electric arcs immediately spread across the area.

Several warhorses exploded apart.

The female warriors riding them were burned black and smoking as they crashed onto the grass, unable to move.

A Royal Guard behind him fired at Steppenwolf from horseback.

Steppenwolf swung his axe and sent out a bolt of electricity, knocking her off her horse.

Then he turned and swung again, cutting another rider and horse into several pieces.

Afterward, he pointed his axe toward the Royal Guard ahead.

A large group of Parademons rushed forward, repeatedly firing beams from their rifles to block the riders below.

Steppenwolf leaped once more.

Crossing a huge distance, he descended from the sky.

After landing, he turned around.

A Royal Guard happened to charge toward him on horseback and slashed her sword at his shoulder, producing a shower of sparks.

Without a word, Steppenwolf lowered himself and raised one arm.

His hand caught the horse beneath its belly and threw both horse and rider away.

The horse screamed as it fell.

When it hit the ground, its weight crushed the rider beneath it.

Only then did Hippolyta catch up on horseback.

But as she and Helena rode forward, Steppenwolf had already reached the guard carrying the Mother Box.

Steppenwolf swept his axe sideways.

The guard ducked beneath it.

A few strands of her hair were cut off, but she passed through unharmed.

The women protecting the Mother Box on both sides turned around and drew their bows.

Arrow after arrow struck Steppenwolf.

But the arrows either bounced away or became stuck in his spiked armor.

Steppenwolf was completely unharmed.

Holding his axe, he continued forward.

At that moment, a squad of Royal Guards arrived.

They threw lassos around his arms and legs.

With a powerful pull, Steppenwolf lost his balance and dropped to one knee.

He snorted and expelled two streams of breath from his nostrils.

First, he lifted his axe upward and cut through the ropes around his ankles.

Then he grabbed several other lassos with one hand.

With a violent swing, several horses and riders were hurled through the air.

When they hit the ground, they were either dead or badly injured.

Two more warriors charged forward with spears, shouting.

Steppenwolf swung his axe.

Lightning exploded outward.

Blood sprayed.

The two female warriors quickly fell onto the grass and died.

In the distance, a group of Parademons caught up to the Royal Guard.

One of them swooped down, grabbed the Mother Box from the guard's hands, and carried both the Mother Box and the guard into the air.

Nearby Parademons moved in to support it.

But the Amazon warriors below continuously fired arrows.

One powerful arrow after another cut through the air, causing Parademons to spray blood and fall from the sky.

A Royal Guard picked up a spear and threw it.

The Parademon carrying the Mother Box was killed.

Immediately, both the Mother Box and the Amazon warrior fell to the ground.

The Mother Box rolled several times.

Its outer container finally broke apart completely, revealing a metallic cube whose surface continuously shifted and separated while emitting intense light.

This was the Mother Box's true form.

A rider passed nearby.

She jumped from her galloping horse, rolled several times across the ground, and came to a stop.

Then she quickly removed the rope from her back.

Steppenwolf had already arrived nearby.

She rapidly swung the rope and looped it around the Mother Box.

She then tied the rope to an arrow.

Before Steppenwolf could seize the Mother Box, she turned and fired.

The arrow immediately shot into the air, carrying the Mother Box away from Steppenwolf.

At this point, only two Royal Guards remained.

Seeing the Mother Box flying toward them, one female warrior jumped onto her horse's back and then launched herself into the air, catching the Mother Box.

Another guard rode past and reached out, pulling her companion onto the horse.

But at that moment, Steppenwolf descended from the sky.

With a swing of his battle axe, the horse was ripped open.

The two female warriors were thrown away.

The Mother Box rolled across the ground before finally coming to a stop.

Hippolyta, who had just arrived, saw this and let out a shout.

Holding her sword high, she jumped into the air.

Crossing a distance, she brought her blade down at Steppenwolf from above.

Steppenwolf turned and swept his weapon.

Hippolyta was sent flying.

As he watched her roll across the ground, Steppenwolf spread his hands and said, "Noble Queen, why do you resist?"

"You cannot save anything."

"The great darkness is coming."

"Amazon warriors, all you need to do is wait quietly."

After saying that, Steppenwolf ignored Hippolyta.

He walked over to the Mother Box and picked it up.

Helena shouted and charged forward.

She hurled the spear in her hand.

The spear became a streak of light and struck the Mother Box in Steppenwolf's hand, knocking it free and sending it rolling across the grass once more.

Hippolyta seemed to make up her mind.

She raised her head and looked toward Alex in the distance.

Then she shouted, "Conqueror!"

"Please help us!"

"If the Mother Box falls into his hands, it will be over!"

"Please help us! The Amazons will remember your kindness for generations!"

At the same time, Steppenwolf let out an angry roar.

Wrapped in lightning, his battle axe swung toward Helena, who could no longer stop her charge.
