Chapter 222 - Chapter 210: The Fearless Amazons

"Boom Tube."

Above the temple, the red Justice Cape fluttered in the wind like a burning flame.

Holding Helena in his arms, Alex looked at the pillar of light descending directly into the temple and spoke softly.

Helena did not know what a Boom Tube was, but she could sense that something was wrong inside the temple.

She looked at the man beside her and bit her lip, "Conqueror, is that the enemy from ancient times?"

Alex shook his head, "No. At most, it's just a guard dog."

"But even a guard dog is not something your people can fight."

As for the comics, he didn't know.

But in the movie, Steppenwolf had beaten hundreds of Amazons by himself.

Even Wonder Woman was no match for him in a one-on-one fight.

In the end, it took Superman, a nearly cheat-level existence, to defeat him.

So Darkseid's guard dog was very strong.

Various thoughts passed through Alex's mind.

Helena said worriedly, "Queen Hippolyta is inside the temple. I need to help her."

Alex had no intention of letting go, "It won't make any difference if you go."

"Stay here. It's safe."

Helena raised an eyebrow, "I am an Amazon warrior. I will not avoid any challenge."

Alex shrugged and released her.

Looking at his tall and handsome face, Helena said, "Conqueror, will you help us Amazons?"

Alex smiled.

"I made my position clear to your Queen from the beginning."

"I am a friend, not an enemy."

"But your Queen doesn't seem to believe that."

"So we'll see."

Helena gave a sweet smile, "Even if you don't help us, that's fine. But please don't let the sacred relic fall into the hands of evil people."

After saying that, she let go and dropped to the ground before running toward the temple.

Alex touched his nose and smiled, "Evil people?"

"Feels like you're talking about me."

Then he began scanning the situation inside the temple.

———

Inside the temple, behind the stone platform where the Mother Box rested, a figure suddenly dropped out of the Boom Tube.

BANG!

The entire temple shook slightly.

Hippolyta's pupils contracted.

She watched as the figure behind the platform straightened up.

It was a humanoid creature over three meters tall.

His body was covered in silver armor full of spikes. The spikes on the armor constantly moved on their own, as if they were alive.

The creature had two huge horns, like those of a water buffalo. They were also covered in silver spiked armor.

He held a battle axe wrapped in yellow lightning.

His eyes glowed blue.

Steppenwolf!

Darkseid's hound!

Commander of the Parademons!

Looking around, Steppenwolf spoke in a voice like a subwoofer.

"Amazons. I have come to show you the greatness of darkness."

"I will bathe in your fear."

Hippolyta drew her sword, took a fighting stance, and shouted, "Daughters of Paradise Island, show him your fear!"

All the female warriors shouted together, "We fear nothing!"

Steppenwolf's expression did not change, "Then let us see."

"Parademons, scorch them!"

Immediately, Parademons flew out of the Boom Tube.

The Parademons looked like pale-skinned men with wings and tactical goggles.

They carried beam weapons and were so numerous that they buzzed through the air like flies.

Parademons were biological weapons created through Apokoliptian technology.

They were made from captives seized by Apokolips from planets throughout the universe.

Individually, their combat strength was not particularly high, but they still possessed power that ordinary humans could not resist.

Their most terrifying feature was their numbers.

Their endless numbers were what made them truly frightening.

These creatures had no thoughts and no free will.

They obeyed only the Dark Lord Darkseid and frontline commanders such as Steppenwolf.

At Steppenwolf's command, large numbers of Parademons poured out of the Boom Tube and used their beam rifles to attack the Amazon warriors inside the temple.

The Amazon warriors showed no fear as they fought back.

They drew their bowstrings and sent arrows through the air, piercing the Parademons' chests.

Although they used primitive cold weapons, under the skill and strength of the Amazon warriors, those weapons displayed considerable power.

The Parademons wore armor, but before the powerful arrows and spears, it was as fragile as paper, easily pierced and torn through.

Still, the Amazon warriors did not have it easy.

The beams fired by the Parademons' rifles had strong penetrating power and intense heat.

The Amazons possessed remarkable stamina, but their bodies were only slightly tougher than those of ordinary humans.

Once struck by a beam, a hole would be burned straight through their bodies.

If a vital area was hit, death came immediately.

It seemed Zeus had played a cruel joke on this race.

He had given them nearly immortal lives, but not powerful bodies.

As the Parademons continued their assault, one Amazon warrior after another died inside the temple.

In less than a minute, one-third of the warriors in the temple had already fallen.

The sight filled Hippolyta with grief.

At that moment, Steppenwolf walked toward the stone platform holding the Mother Box and reached out for it.

Unexpectedly, a rope wrapped around his arm.

Several female warriors pulled together and forcibly dragged his arm away.

One Amazon warrior after another threw herself forward.

These tall women surrounded Steppenwolf like ants, desperately trying to stop his advance.

Some even jumped onto his back.

Ignoring the spikes on his armor that pierced their bodies full of holes, they raised their swords and stabbed at his head.

Unfortunately, mortal weapons could not harm Steppenwolf.

The swords suddenly broke.

Steppenwolf swung his other arm.

Lightning exploded from the electric battle axe, releasing bolts of electricity.

A single swing sent countless female warriors flying through the air, their bodies twisted into terrible shapes.

Just as Steppenwolf was about to break free, a rope flew out and wrapped around the Mother Box.

With a pull, the Mother Box flew away and landed in Hippolyta's hands.

The Amazon Queen's skill with a lasso was incredible.

The moment she got the Mother Box, she turned and ran outside without hesitation.

As she ran, she shouted, "Close the gate!"

Immediately, the strongmen on both sides of the passage swung giant hammers and smashed the supports holding up the stone gate.

Then two strongmen near the entrance used their shoulders to hold back the descending stone slab, buying time for the Queen.

When Helena arrived, she saw Queen Hippolyta clutching the Mother Box and sliding out beneath the narrowing gap.

BANG!

The stone gate dropped completely into place.

The ground shook slightly.

Rocks continued to tumble from the fortress above.

The temple was completely sealed.
