She moved slowly down the aisle while he followed behind, pushing the trolley without a word. Cooking wasn't her strength truthfully, she had almost no experience at all but she still reached for the basics, the everyday things she assumed would be needed in his kitchen.
A box of chocolates found its way into the trolley, and she spared him a quick glance from the corner of her eye.
Thankfully, he didn't look angry.
A thought suddenly sparked in her mind sharp, mischievous. What if she made him spend recklessly? A quiet smirk tugged at her lips as she began piling snacks into the trolley, one after another, testing him. She waited for him to stop her… but he didn't. Not a word. Not even a glance.
Strangely, that annoyed her.
By the time they reached the counter, the trolley was full. He paid with his card without so much as checking the total, completely indifferent, before gathering all the shopping bags in one go.
