His eyes narrowed.
A warning.
Then he moved.
He advanced toward her slowly, deliberately like a predator closing in on prey.
Her heart skipped.
Panic surged.
She turned and ran, aiming for the bathroom
But she didn't make it.
His arm wrapped around her waist, dragging her back into him.
Her back slammed against his chest, his hold unyielding as he locked her in place.
"Let go!" she screamed, thrashing wildly in his grip.
She stomped down hard on his foot.
Nothing.
It didn't even faze him.
Her hands clawed at his arms, and even through her panic, she felt it the strange spark that flickered wherever her skin met his.
But she didn't care.
All she wanted was to get away.
"Calm down," he said but the words barely reached her over the frantic pounding of her own heartbeat.
Her nails dug into his arm.
He hissed under his breath.
And then
He lifted her.
Before she could react, he threw her back onto the bed hard enough to make her body bounce.
