No voices.
No movement beyond the walls.
Whatever strange ability Dorian possessed, it had allowed him to disappear completely.
Dakota looked down at the restraints securing her wrists and ankles.
The chains suddenly seemed far less important than they had a few minutes ago.
If Dorian was gone, there was no reason for her to remain sitting here.
Power stirred beneath her skin and a familiar warmth spread through her body as she focused on the metal wrapped around her wrists and soon the chains groaned under the pressure.
And suddenly a sharp crack echoed through the room as one restraint snapped and then another. The metal links scattered across the floor and within seconds the remaining restraints followed.
Dakota swung her legs off the bed and rose to her feet. Freedom felt good.
At least for a moment.
She crossed the room and headed directly toward the door.
