Chapter 160 - Chapter 160. Kakashi and the Third Hokage

In Kakashi Hatake's impression, the only ninjas who could skillfully use the Flying Thunder God Technique were the Second Hokage, Tobirama Senju, and his teacher, Minato Namikaze.

However, in Konoha, there were actually a few others who could use Flying Thunder God—such as Minato's personal guards. Although their individual strength wasn't outstanding, they had mastered the Flying Thunder God Formation Technique. If the three of them activated the jutsu together, they could achieve teleportation.

Of course, it was basically useless in real combat.

Taking dozens of seconds—or even minutes—to prepare in a fight where a single second could decide life or death? Yeah… that's just asking to get your head chopped off.

Still, some details on the scroll reminded Kakashi of Minato-sensei, and the intelligence within confirmed the sender's identity.

It was Minato-sensei's son—Naruto Uzumaki—who had already left the village and established his own ninja village.

Naruto had shared a lot of intelligence with him and even offered several "suggestions" for fixing Konoha's current situation—like uniting the ninjas to pressure the higher-ups, threatening the Fire Daimyo, or straight-up eliminating Danzo Shimura.

Some of those ideas… were actually workable.

Others?

Yeah, more like "how to speedrun Konoha's internal collapse in three easy steps."

What Kakashi couldn't understand was this—

If Naruto had so many ways to change Konoha… why leave and build his own village instead?

With Naruto's identity, becoming Hokage in the future would've been almost guaranteed.

Unless…

He was completely disappointed in Konoha.

Kakashi sighed.

That was the only explanation that made sense.

He himself was also disappointed—but only in the leadership led by the Third Hokage. As for the rest of the village, he didn't hate it.

After all, people like Might Guy, Asuma Sarutobi, and Kurenai Yuhi still loved the village wholeheartedly.

They were the warmth Konoha still had left.

And Kakashi… still wanted to use Obito Uchiha's eye to show him a thriving Konoha someday.

After reading the scroll, Kakashi noted the spatial coordinates recorded at the end. After copying everything with his Sharingan, he casually used Fire Release to burn the scroll into ashes.

Clean. No evidence. Classic ANBU habit.

After finishing all this, Kakashi headed toward the Hokage Building.

Pushing open the Hokage's office door, Kakashi said with a worried expression,

"Third Hokage-sama, I just met Jiraiya-sama… something seemed off about him."

Hiruzen Sarutobi smiled faintly.

"Jiraiya has his own concerns. Let him be alone for a while."

Kakashi's acting was flawless.

"That's good… I was worried something might happen to him. If even he leaves, there won't be any Sannin left in the village."

The Third Hokage sighed.

Then asked, "Kakashi, is there anything else?"

Kakashi nodded.

"Yes. I want to learn the Flying Thunder God Technique to improve my strength. The ninja world is becoming more and more chaotic—I'm worried about the village's safety."

The Third Hokage didn't refuse.

With Kakashi's contributions, he was qualified to learn almost any ninjutsu.

If Kakashi could master Flying Thunder God, it would be a huge asset to the village—especially against threats like the masked man.

Among the younger generation, Kakashi was probably the only one with that kind of talent.

"I'll take you to retrieve the Flying Thunder God Technique later… But Kakashi, you've been resting for half a year. Do you have any plans going forward? Guy has come to me more than once, asking me to 'fix your dark and gloomy personality problem.'"

Thinking of Guy flashing his teeth and giving a thumbs-up, Kakashi couldn't help but chuckle.

"Yeah… I do want to find something to do. I just don't know what. Do you have any suggestions?"

The Third Hokage's eyes lit up.

"Why not become a Jonin instructor? Take on a team of newly graduated genin. It will help you step out of the darkness. Many young jonin choose this path. During that time, you can also practice Flying Thunder God in peace."

Become a jonin instructor…

Kakashi rubbed his chin.

Then said, "Third Hokage-sama, I'm very strict. If they don't meet my standards, I won't pass them."

The Third Hokage smiled.

"If they fail, they'll just return to the academy. Studying a few more years isn't a bad thing."

Kakashi smiled back.

"Since you've said so, I won't refuse. Training the next generation isn't bad… maybe a few of them will turn out to be outstanding ninjas."

Then Kakashi seemed to recall something.

"Third Hokage-sama, has ANBU found Naruto's whereabouts? He's been gone for nearly two years."

The Third Hokage paused.

"Didn't Jiraiya tell you? He already located Naruto and returned."

Kakashi quickly asked,

"Where is Naruto now? Didn't he bring him back?"

The Third Hokage hesitated, then said,

"Naruto's situation is… special. He can't appear publicly for now, but it has been handled properly. Do you want to see him?"

Kakashi shook his head slightly.

"I trust Hokage-sama to take care of Naruto. I'll meet him when he grows up… it's just that his friends keep asking me about him."

"I see…" The Third Hokage nodded. "I'll explain it to them."

After chatting a bit more, Kakashi left the Hokage Building.

After studying the Flying Thunder God Technique scroll, he began practicing at the training ground.

The technique was insanely difficult.

It took Kakashi several days just to grasp the basics.

As for actual combat use?

That would take months of hard training—and probably years of real battle experience.

But even if he couldn't use it in combat yet, and couldn't teleport himself long distances…

Sending messages?

That was already more than enough.

That's why he learned it.

To contact Naruto.

After returning home, Kakashi took out paper and began writing.

There were too many questions he wanted to ask—

About Akatsuki's members…

About Konoha's future…

About what form Minato-sensei existed in now…

He wrote a lot.

Then… tore it all up.

Starting over, he wrote just a few simple lines.

Nothing complicated.

Just greetings.

A few words from himself…

And messages from Naruto's friends.

At the end, he briefly mentioned what he and Jiraiya planned to do.

After finishing, Kakashi added a sealing technique to the letter and bound it to a Flying Thunder God kunai.

Then—

He activated the Flying Thunder God Technique.

The coordinates Naruto had left were locked.

The kunai vanished instantly.

After watching it disappear, Kakashi… began to worry.

Would the letter actually reach Naruto?

And even if it did—

Would Naruto reply?
