"It doesn't matter," he said simply. We were back at the villa in no time.
I went straight to the shower. The hot water helped some — loosened the tension sitting in my shoulders, washed the dried coffee from my skin. When I came out, Ashton was on the balcony, phone pressed to his ear. The door was open, and his voice carried clearly into the bedroom.
He was talking to Rebecca.
"Rebecca, you shouldn't bring Scarlett into our business," he said, his tone flat and unhappy.
"Ash, what do you mean?" Rebecca's voice pitched high enough that I could hear her from across the room. "Did she go crying to you about me?"
"No." He kept his voice low and steady. He heard my footsteps and turned, stepping back inside.
Rebecca wasn't finished. "Then why are you acting like I did something wrong? Is that how little you think of me?"
