He raised his eyebrows. "The tickets to K City for the evening have already been booked. Have you forgotten?"
If he had not brought it up, I truly would have forgotten. The thought had slipped my mind completely.
I stood there for a moment, slightly stunned, then asked, "What must I bring with me?"
"Nothing." He wrapped his arm around my waist with a calm certainty that always made my chest tighten. "Joseph has arranged everything. We'll be staying for a few days. I'll bring you to meet Aunt Sally."
A faint unease stirred in me. "Should we go for another check-up? The baby is almost seven months now. The early stages didn't go so well. Since we are not familiar with K City, wouldn't it be better to check first?"
He seemed to anticipate my concern. His voice softened as he replied, "Dr. Ludwick has arranged for an obstetrician and gynecologist to come with us. I've also arranged a doctor in K City. Don't worry."
