The bridges were already a symphony of destruction, but for Urgot, the real threat didn't come from the blue-coated soldiers ahead. It came from the shadows behind.
Talon was a creature of the Noxian underground, a man who had traded his soul for the reliability of steel. He had spent his life as the personal shadow of General Du Couteau, carrying out purges from the Freljord to Demacia. With the General missing, Talon had followed the only lead left: the General's former executioner, the man who had once disarmed him in a duel—Urgot.
Talon didn't announce his arrival with a shout. He spoke with a wrist blade aimed at the base of Urgot's skull.
"Urgot! Does the General's disappearance lie at your feet?" Talon hissed.
Urgot hissed back, his Alchemical arm clashing against Talon's steel. "The rulers of Noxus deserve only the grave! Du Couteau was just another master of a dying empire!"
The duel was a blur of high-velocity steel. Talon's Shadow Assault sent a ring of floating blades into the air, all converging on Urgot's massive frame. Urgot pushed his six legs to the limit, raising his Alchemical Shield, but Talon was a phantom. He moved with a speed that defied the smog, appearing behind Urgot for a lethal strike.
"Cutthroat!"
Chen, watching through his binoculars, felt his blood run cold. Talon wasn't just using his known techniques; he was executing a brutal, older style of assassination—a blink-and-strike maneuver that left no room for error.
The Collapse of the Line
Urgot was a tank, but Talon was a surgeon. A row of blades from Talon's sleeve pierced Urgot's back, severing the pressure lines of his mechanical legs. The Dreadnought sank to the ground, blood and Shimmer leaking from his wounds.
Seeing their leader falter, Urgot's zealots broke formation to save him, but Talon was merciless. He flicked his hand, and three followers fell with blades in their throats. Without Urgot's suppressive fire, the North Bridge's defense crumbled. The Piltover Guard let out a cheer and began to pour across the gap.
"Jinx! Hold this bridge! I have to help the crab!" Chen screamed.
He didn't wait for an answer. He hopped onto his hoverboard, banking hard toward the North Bridge. In the open sky, he was a beacon. Hundreds of Hextech Rifles swiveled toward him.
"COUNTER STRIKE!"
Chen spun his lamppost, the iron shaft glowing with a dull heat as it batted away the blue streaks of Hextech fire. Below him, Jikegar was screaming at his men, even snatching a rifle to take a shot himself, but Chen was already diving into the fray on Urgot's bridge.
Steel Against Will
Chen hit the ground at a run, activating his Turbo Chemtank. He swung his streetlamp in a heavy arc toward Talon's head, but the assassin vanished in a puff of dark mist.
"He's behind me!" Chen's instincts screamed.
"UNBREAKABLE WILL!"
The rune-shields flared to life just as Talon reappeared, his wrist blade carving a path toward Chen's jugular. The steel met the magical barrier and skidded. Instead of a lethal decapitation, the blade only left a shallow, stinging incision on Chen's neck.
Talon's eyes widened. He had slit the throats of kings, but this boy's skin felt like enchanted granite.
Chen didn't give him a second to recover. He gripped his lamppost with both hands, the weight of the iron ready to meet the finesse of the blade. "You're a long way from home, rat," Chen spat, blood trickling from his neck. "And in Zaun, we don't follow Noxian rules."
