"Two levels of reversal!"

Ekko's lungs burned as he inhaled the familiar, acrid smog of the "past" Zaun. He checked his gear—the Z-Drive was humming, its surface warm to the touch. He had successfully performed a "Long Jump," anchoring his consciousness seven days back.

Time is a parallel circuit, Ekko thought, remembering Chen's theories. I've brought the hardware from a future that technically hasn't happened yet. But I can't jump forward. The future is a blank slate again.

The Chrono-Watcher

Far to the south, the shifting sands of Shurima swirled around the floating form of Zilean. The ancient mage paused, his eyes glowing with chronal energy. He felt a violent ripple in the fabric of reality—a tear so jagged it could only be the work of a mortal playing with gods' tools.

"A reverse-flow traveler," Zilean whispered, a faint smile touching his withered lips. "He has bypassed the sequentiality of matter. He is bound by the laws of time, yet he has found a way to strain against them. Zaun... you continue to surprise me."

The Strategy Meeting

In the Sanctuary, the scene was eerily peaceful. Powder was humming as she tinkered with the tailfins of her rocket, and Chen was hunched over a desk, analyzing Jayce's stolen engineering notes.

"Piltover attacks in seven days," Ekko said, walking straight into the room. "We need a new plan. Now."

Chen looked up, his eyes widening as he took in Ekko's full combat gear and the haunted, weary look in the boy's eyes. "Wait... the Z-Drive? The armor? Ekko, you actually did it. You're the 'Future Ekko' I told you to become."

"I've lived through a hundred massacres, Chen," Ekko said, his voice cracking. "Their Hextech Rifles... they don't just shoot. They vaporize. We can't win with what we have."

Chen's expression turned grim. "Elaborate. Tell me exactly how we lose."

Ekko laid it all out: the searchlights, the thermal scanners, the long-range bombardment, and the ruthless efficiency of Warden Jikegar.

The Recruitment List

Chen began scratching names onto a piece of scrap metal. If the future was a slaughter, they needed to change the variables. They needed the "Monsters of Zaun."

"You say no one can withstand the Hextech bullet?" Chen asked, tapping his pen. "Mundo is drifting at sea, and Urgot is tough but still made of meat. But there's a guy... a legend from the Reclamation Pools."

"Zac," Ekko whispered, the name clicking into place. "The Secret Weapon. He's made of amorphous, sentient goo. A Hextech bolt would pass right through him or be absorbed by his mass. He's the ultimate living shield."

"And we need the bridge down," Chen added. "If Powder can't blow it, we find the one Yordle who treats explosives like fine art. Ziggs. He was Heimerdinger's student before his 'creative differences' led him to Zaun."

Powder huffed, crossing her arms. "I just didn't have enough 'oomph'! I could do it if I had—"

"We don't have time for 'if,' Powder," Chen said gently. "We need a specialist."

"And the Warden," Ekko growled. "Jikegar. He's the brain. If he dies, the army loses its coordination. But he's always surrounded by a hundred guards."

Chen's smirk returned, dark and sharp. "Then we don't send an army. We send a ghost. Someone from the sewers who can vanish in a cloud of toxic gas."

"Twitch, the Plague Rat," Chen muttered. "A paranoid sniper with a chem-bolt crossbow. He can get within five feet of the Warden and disappear before the first guard screams."

The Final Piece

Chen looked at the list. Jinx, Ekko, Janna, Urgot, Zac, Ziggs, Twitch. It was a roster of legends, but they were missing the intellectual bridge—someone who understood the fusion of biology and machinery better than anyone.

"There's one more," Chen said, looking toward the deeper, more toxic levels of the Undercity. "He's an old rival of mine. He saved your life once, Powder. The father of Shimmer himself."

"Singed," Chen said. "And where Singed is... Viktor won't be far behind."
