Chapter 72 - LEARNING TO TRANSMUTE

AKAME ASSASINATION (8)

Transmutation is the ability to give fragment energy certain properties e.g that of rubber and gum. However, It should be mentioned that you are only giving your F.E the properties of that substance you are not creating that substance that would be conjuration.

Since transmuting is all about picturing the feeling of a certain substance then attempting to replicate that same feeling via fragment energy it is one of the easiest techniques to learn out of the five and thus this is what the newbies learn first.

There are steps to transmute your F.E:

Come into contact with the substance you want to transmute your F.E .To understand the inner workings of the substance e.g its theoretical limits or what it can and can't do. Lastly replicate that feeling through F.E

Not many steps, that's because it is very easy to learn and can help before you permanently stick to one category out of the five.

Gil had only 1 and a half minutes left before the roots that bound the creatures would be lifted. He hadn't come into contact with lightning however he had conjured lighting and thus remembered the feeling.

'It was like I had something constantly something pinching my nerves… if that makes sense, I remember in my biology 101 classes back at the church, they said that the human body has millions of nerves which talk to the brain and give it instructions and stuff. The same nerves that register pain are the same nerves I felt getting pinched whenever I used even a bit of it.'

He closed his eyes and concentrated, the same way he had done on bed in the old house. 'its been a while since I've done this. I guess I've mostly just been doing physical body training rather than training using my … powers?'

 BZZZ!

He then pointed his index finger tips at each other and right their and then was a spark. A blue current ran from left to right. He then extended that to his entire palm.

"I think I've got it." He shouted with a smile.

The man turned and looked at Gil and couldn't help but smile also. "Good. Shizen release."

The vines that had formed some sort of wall capturing most of the beasts was now released and the creatures ran towards them in a hurry, ready to consume what they thought was a food source.

Gil concentrated all that energy in one hand he then did his signature move, but this time with a twist.

BLUE, ELECTRIC DISCHARGE: THUNDER BOLT!

Something he had attempted to do a while ago however it didn't land (Go check chapter 43). Creating a potential difference but rather than moving himself he would move his F.E instead creating a lightning strike… something less powerful than a natural lightning strike but something rather close.

The thunder bolt was enough to vaporize most of the creatures that were still running after them.

'Amazing, he's even more of a prodigy than I once thought.' If he didn't believe it then, he believes it now.

We might be in the presence of a greater generation, one that surpasses its predecessors by such a large marginal gap that it might be impossible for the old to even think of catching up.

"You might be in the midst of this one day." The man in white remembered a conversation he had a long time ago with his master, "Let me tell you, there is no greater joy to any teacher than seeing all of his students prosper and one day come to surpass him, yes nothing at all."

Despite them only being together for a short amount of days, the man in white ended up valuing Gil as a student.

For there is no greater teacher than the one who teaches you the basics of any subject.

And with that one move Gil learned how to completely transmute, he would never have a problem with it ever again. And he was also closer to his true mission, of eradicating all of the men in white who plague his country.

***

All alchemists learn transmutation before mastering enhancement, this enhancement training might be the most brutal in the entire land or maybe the entire world. However, one must always remember that transmutation for different categories will always be different. Gil is an elemental and Jericho is an alchemist, as such their methods and ways of transmuting are different.

 ORGANIC ALCHEMY: CARBON BASED RODS!

She launched a flurry of attacks at Nina, who intern dodged them with her immense skill and speed. The accuracy with which Jericho launched this rods was not to be laughed at either, this was her main move so it would only be natural for her to master it as much as humanly possible.

SLICE!

Something wheezed through the air, Jericho moved out of the way and fast. She turned to look.

"A king of hearts?" It was a plain old card, yet it cut as though forged at the edge of creation.

"You shouldn't fall for distractions so easily, biscuit." Nina came in with a punch. One that Jericho was able to block, but it still left her hands sore.

'She must be using enhancement type chi for her body, but she then converts it into enhancement type fragment energy for any physical object.'

In it of itself it was pretty hard to use chi for enhancement, let alone switching between body type enhancement and F.E type enhancement.

'Whoever she is, she must have undergone insane torture just to be able to do this.' Jericho thought to herself as she moved back again, 'However, despite all that I have an advantage. Not to mention I think I've figured something out.'

Jericho bit into her thumb, letting it bleed momentarily. Alchemy transmutation required a transmutation circle, one she had to draw quickly.

'From the way she attacked I can assume that she's an organic alchemist, since only they can produce carbon based substances. But what is this? She's trying to draw a circle? Oh like the ones used for transmutation?'

"Hey I thought alchemists can only do one type of alchemy?" She asked.

"Shut up, I wouldn't know anything about that."

Jericho was only trying to buy time, the circle itself wouldn't be that big however, that worked in her favor. The smaller the circle the less power it draws from the user.

 EARTH ALCHEMY!

 The floor began to shake.

CRACK!

It also began to tear at the seams, slowly chipping away piece by piece until finally.

BOOM!

 A big gap opened.

"How did you use another type of alchemy?" Her screen mask displayed a question mark as she slowly landed on the ground floor with another set of trains and people. "Hey, answer me please." She called out.

After a bit of annoyance she decided to get a better view. "Up!" From the base of her feet smoke loomed forming a giant smoke soldier that carried her on its shoulders.

 "Hey you!"

She pointed at a random man sited on a bench, he didn't seem in distress like the rest, maybe its because he had his earphones plugged in. "Is he not listening to me?"

Her screen displayed an angry face. She took out a card from her deck.

SLICE!

She was able to decapitate him in one through. "Thank goodness I only need your body and not you. She then zoomed, "I might as well start preparing the battle field before she gets here. She took out her entire play deck of cards.

 "I can't wait to play."
