Chapter 259 - Thorforce, Surtur's Death

Besides his plan with Lucas, Odin also told Thor and Loki a few secrets.

"The living beings of the Nine Realms have shed too much blood. This war, and all the grievances before it, shall end with this battle."

"Thor, Loki. Promise me, after victory, do not make things difficult for the Dark Elves, Frost Giants, Fire Demons, and Angels—these four races."

"Alright." Thor and Loki nodded.

Odin added, "But if there is an opportunity, kill the Angel Queen and avenge your sister."

"Sister? Why have I never heard you or mother mention her?" Thor asked in surprise.

"It's two sisters." Odin's expression was complex.

"The second, during the war between Asgard and Heven thousands of years ago, was killed by the Angel Queen. At that time, she was still an infant."

"The first is Asgard's taboo. Her name is Hela, the Goddess of Death of Asgard. She once fought alongside me to conquer the Nine Realms. Invincible in battle, unconquerable in assault."

"Other than me, she was the strongest person in the Nine Realms. However, after the Nine Realms were pacified, her desire for conquest still did not subside. She wanted to ignite an even greater war."

"I couldn't stop her, so I imprisoned her, locking her away. Now, she is about to be released."

"What should we do about this?" Loki asked.

He and Thor were both a bit bewildered now.

Out of nowhere, two sisters had appeared.

"Her power comes from Asgard. Once she returns there, her power will be infinite and uncontrollable." Odin said.

"So, we need to stop her from returning to Asgard?" Thor asked.

"That is a problem you and Loki need to consider."

Odin sighed, "She is my daughter, your sister. At the same time, she could also be the enemy who destroys Asgard."

Odin's tone was distant, carrying a hint of nostalgia.

As a father, imprisoning his daughter for thousands of years was not his wish.

But as the Asgardian King, Hela massacred the Valkyrie army that went to stop her, and Odin had to give the citizens of Asgard an explanation.

"Alright, no more talk of this, I must go."

"Father, must you really go?"

"The threads of fate are hard to discern, I must seek them myself. This is my duty, my mission."

Odin gathered the two brothers into his embrace, his voice profound,

"Asgard, I leave it to you. And Frigga, your mother, help me look after her."

After bidding farewell to Thor and Loki, Odin waved his hand and sent them away.On another battlefield, Thor, after a brief moment of distraction, suddenly attacked Surtur like a madman.

He leaped up, soaring into the clouds.

Thunder rolled in the sky, and lightning intertwined.

Thor acted as a conduit, and a thick bolt of lightning descended, like a long dragon. The raging thunder dragon tore through the sky, illuminating the world as if it were daytime.

Surtur felt the sky darken, as if there was only this one brilliant lightning bolt in the world.

Surtur sensed danger, a life-threatening danger. He was furious, and the Eternal Flame on his crown burned even more fiercely. Flames spread over his entire body, climbing onto the Twilight Sword in his hand.

The next instant, thunder descended, and Mjolnir collided with the Twilight Sword.

Surtur felt a tremendous force on the Twilight Sword, a force far exceeding all of Thor's previous power.

Within Thor's body, a power that had not belonged to him before suddenly appeared, churning and surging.

This was the Odinforce.

Or rather, the Thorforce.

It was the power passed down through generations of Asgardian Kings.

Under the augmentation of this power, the thunder overpowered the fire, and Mjolnir pushed aside the Twilight Sword.

The hundreds of meters tall thunder dragon, baring its fangs and brandishing its claws, roared as it tore towards Surtur's crown.

Surtur knew that if this thunder dragon struck him and seized the Eternal Flame, he would surely die.

The thunder dragon hit Surtur, and a blinding white light erupted, illuminating the world in a stark white.

Inside and outside the battlefield, everyone's gaze was drawn, but in this blinding white light, they couldn't see what was happening inside.

When the white light dimmed, everyone finally saw Surtur's collapsing figure, and they were momentarily dazed.

Rumble!!!

Only then did the thunder sound, startling everyone awake.

"Did father lose?"

Sindr watched this scene, her mind shaken, finding it hard to believe for a moment.

She staggered, flying towards the direction where Surtur had fallen.

"No, that's not right. The flames haven't extinguished, the Eternal Flame is still there, Surtur hasn't lost."

The Angel Queen called out to Sindr, wanting to deal with Loki together first.

At this moment, an ominous premonition surged within her.

Could this battle actually be lost?

What the Angel Queen said made sense, but Sindr ignored her, still single-mindedly flying towards the direction where Surtur had fallen.

"Are you looking down on me? Odin's boy, why didn't you kill me?" Surtur spoke in a booming voice.

If the thunder dragon had hit his head just now, he would have surely died. Moreover, he was already powerless to resist.

But Thor suddenly changed the thunder dragon's attack direction, grazing his head and striking his shoulder instead.

Although this severely wounded him, it was not fatal.

Compared to Laufey, his life was much harder.

He had already recovered his senses, but he still lied flat, not wanting to stand up.

"The living beings of the Nine Realms have shed enough blood."

Thor picked up mjolnir, turned his back to Surtur, and walked towards the Angel Queen's direction.

"Remember, you're out of the game."

...

Boom!!!

Before long, Sindr also lay beside Surtur.

She had rushed from afar to check on her father and unexpectedly encountered Thor heading towards the Angel Queen.

The two met on a narrow path, and a great battle was imminent.

Thor, who had awakened his Thorforce, was as strong as a monster. She tried her best but couldn't defeat him.

"Father, we lost." Sindr was crestfallen.

The war was over, and her record stood at 4 losses and 1 draw.

Although the Angel Queen was still fighting Thor, she knew that defeat was inevitable.

How could someone who could defeat Surtur and her possibly lose to the Angel Queen?

"But why hasn't that boy from Odin's family taken down the Angel Queen yet?" Sindr wondered, asking.

"The power within that boy doesn't fully belong to him yet, it's already starting to slowly wane and hide itself. Otherwise, his body wouldn't be able to handle it." Surtur said in a deep voice.

He had fought Thor for a long time, so he naturally knew the limits of his power.

"I suspect Odin gave his power to that boy. Just like five hundred thousand years ago, Odin's two brothers gave him their power to defeat me."

Five hundred thousand years ago?

The incident five hundred thousand years ago that led to the theft of the Eternal Flame was well-known to every child in Muspelheim, and Sindr was no exception.

She suddenly realized, then was shocked. "Odin is dead?"

Surtur hummed softly.

Although this was only his guess, without any proof, he had a feeling it couldn't be wrong.

Surtur looked into the distance. The Angel Queen had already been defeated, her life force gradually dissipating.

He sighed deeply, then suddenly reached for the crown on his head, pulling the Eternal Flame from it.

With the Eternal Flame gone, Surtur's aura rapidly diminished.

His height shrunk, and he appeared listless. But he still roused his spirits, pulling Sindr up to sit and crowning her.

"The grudges of the old era all end today. Sindr, the Fire Demons are now yours."

The Eternal Flame transferred to Sindr's head, burning brightly.

Sindr's life force surged with the burning of the Eternal Flame, and the injuries from the previous battle were quickly healed.

Feeling the surging power within her, Sindr hadn't even had time to be happy when she noticed many scars suddenly appearing on Surtur's body.

These scars were from his previous battle with Thor. When the Eternal Flame suppressed them, they were insignificant and couldn't harm Surtur.

But after losing the Eternal Flame, they could take Surtur's life.

Surtur stopped Sindr from returning the Eternal Flame, saying with a carefree tone, "Don't be sad, Sindr. This is my destiny. In the new era, there is no ship that can carry me."

A sudden gust of wind blew, and the firelight on Surtur's body flared brightly. Like a final burst of life before death, it flared brightly then suddenly extinguished.

"Ragnarok says that my flames will burn down the world, consuming all evil in existence. Thereafter, 'good' will be born on the 'ruins of evil,' and the world will be reborn. The new gods will rebuild the divine palace. It seems it wasn't quite like that."

His last thought dissipated, and Surtur perished.
