Ney'tar lead me on foot a distance, the day grew into night, Ney'tar lead me through the darkening forest.
"Ney'tar, where are we going?" I asked him.
"The tree of spirits songs," he said to me. That made me stop walking.
"Wait, Ithought outsiders-"
"You refuse the sky people's way, even though you are born one of them." He said, facing me. His eyes, they were kind, unlike his clan, who still don't trust me. I couldn't figure it out, why would he treat me so kindly when I'm not one of them? "Follow me."
I followed him, and deeper into the woods, to the glowing tree, it reminds me of a willow tree. It's a stunning sight. I couldn't look away. Ney'tar looked to me, I felt him smile at me. H3 lead me close to the tree, streams everywhere, leading water everywhere.
"This place is absolutely beautiful," I said, looking at the tree. Ney'tar held one of the hanging limp branches.
"This is a place of our ancestors voices, and a place of prayers, and sometimes answers," he said, I took my queue and a branch, and made the connections. I could hear singing, Na'vi singing, it was beautiful.
"I can hear them," I said, looking up at the tree, absolutely beautiful to see. I felt Ney'tar watching me.
"The clan doesn't see you as worthy of going to see this tree, or the home tree," He said,
"Home tree?" I asked.
"Yes, our direct connection to Eywa," he explained,
"Wow," I looked back up at the tree again, "I can see why I'm not welcome there, it's an important place, and it's a special connection that will never be replicated, honestly I'm envious. "
I felt Ney'tar watching me, and I felt him move closer to me. I turned to him, and I saw something change in his eyes.
"Neytar?" I asked, he didn't answer, just looked at me, like he saw something he wanted, more than anything. "What is it?"
He reached out, and traced my face, I looked between his hand and his eyes.
"Ruby, I-"
That's when something was crashing through the trees, an RDA bulldozer!
"Move!" I ran, taking his hand and moved out of the way. I grabbed a big rock, I didn't hesitate and jumped up onto the bulldozer, higher than I should have been able to, but I didn't ask questions.
"Ruby!" He called after me, but I got to work, smashing the rock on the bulldozers camera till it was destroyed. The RDA on the ground went on and fired at me. I jumped down and ran off with Ney'tar. The gunfire barely missed us as we ran.
"I'msorry about the tree," I said to him as we ran,
"Don't be, you didn't do anything," he said, running along side me. "You aren't with the sky people who choose violence against us for protecting our home."
"Still, I came here with them," I said, but he shook his head, and refused to blame me.
