Chapter 143 - 36: Sif

Sif looked over and saw that the civilians standing nearby were completely unharmed. The hovering spacecraft, however, had been pierced vertically by a massive beam of light descending from the sky. The entire ship then exploded in mid-air, the beam continuing its descent to strike the ground and raise clouds of dust.

"Is that the Bifrost? Could it be...?" Her large black eyes widened as she recognized the energy beam, so similar to Asgard's interdimensional travel method. Sif's heart leaped; the tide of battle was about to turn. Reinforcements had arrived.

Seeing a figure emerge from the dust, Sif immediately shouted toward the swirling smoke, "Thor! You're late!"

But instead of Thor's familiar voice, a deep, magnetic male voice responded, "Thor? It seems I truly have arrived in Asgard."

The sight of the enemy corpses and severed limbs littering the ground was deeply disturbing. Vandal instinctively glanced over, only to be horrified to discover Chen Chen wearing a "sinister" smile. This immediately sent Vandal into a tearful panic.

*Where on earth did Thor find such a friend?!* he couldn't help but think.

Chen Chen, however, remained completely unaware of Vandal's thoughts. Still wearing what he considered a gentle smile, he slowly approached Sif and Volstagg. "The battle is now under my control," he said. "The Asgardian army will handle the rest from here. Is that alright?"

*Uh, under his control?*

Sif and Volstagg exchanged helpless glances at Chen Chen's words. After a moment, they looked around at the scene: corpses everywhere, limbs scattered, the Vanaheim invaders either dead or grievously wounded. Not a single enemy remained intact. *This isn't controlling the battle—this is ending it!*

A sharp gasp escaped Volstagg as he suddenly felt a dampness on his back, realizing his entire back was drenched in cold sweat.

It was an instinctual fear. Volstagg could vaguely sense that Chen Chen was on a completely different level from him. He hadn't noticed this during the earlier battle, but now, standing face-to-face with Chen Chen, his millennia-honed combat instincts were screaming warnings through his nerves, alarms blaring in his mind.

As the longest-lived of the Asgardian Warriors Three, Volstagg was not only exceptionally strong but also incredibly experienced. He had faced countless colossal enemies and monstrous threats, yet in this moment, confronting Chen Chen, he couldn't help but feel like an ordinary person encountering a wild lion in the wilderness.

While he could accept the primal fear, what truly terrified Volstagg was the complete "unknown."

Chen Chen lazily stretched his arms, letting out a languid yawn. Even with his thousand years of combat experience, he couldn't gauge the true strength of the relaxed man before him.

In both physique and aura, Chen Chen appeared utterly ordinary. Yet his earlier actions had demonstrated such devastating power and impact.

"Thank you for your assistance, Lord Chen Chen," Sif said, recovering faster than Biterstag. She bowed deeply to Chen Chen, a gesture of respect for a powerful warrior. Even as she commanded the remaining Asgardian forces to deal with the enemy remnants, her bow remained.

Just as some Asgardian soldiers were escorting prisoners, a hurricane-like force suddenly struck from the side. It was a massive warhammer, swinging with irresistible power. With a thunderous crash, over a dozen Asgardian soldiers in golden armor were sent flying through the air, their bodies spinning wildly like tops in a 360-degree rotation. They landed seven or eight meters away, the impact cratering the ground.

The Asgardian soldiers were buried in the crater, eyes shut tight, blood trickling from their lips. They were clearly unconscious.

Upon seeing the sudden warhammer and its wielder—a hulking enemy with a face contorted like a demon's—the enemy soldiers erupted in wild cheers, as if the tide of battle had turned once more. Their triumphant shouts seemed to suggest that the goddess of victory herself was smiling upon them once more.

Noticing the changes on the battlefield, Chen Chen's gaze shifted to the center of the enemy formation. There stood a colossal figure, over two meters tall, likely the enemy commander. Its body was composed of massive stones, giving it a bulky yet incredibly solid appearance, exuding an aura of invincibility. The arm wielding a mace was as thick as Chen Chen's entire body.

"Stone Golem?" Chen Chen's sword-like eyebrows furrowed slightly.

"No. That's a Kronan Warrior," Sif replied, her eyes widening as she stared intently at the stone giant. She spoke each word deliberately.

"Kronan Warrior?" Chen Chen recalled information from the Kamar-Taj archives, specifically the section on Kronan Warriors.

The Krunan people, inhabitants of barren planets and Saturn, were a silicon-based species. Their massive bodies, composed of silicon-based matter, gave them a stony appearance and made them nearly impervious to all forms of harm. They possessed extraordinary endurance and remarkable longevity.

Legend had it that in oxygen-rich atmospheres, the Krunan could unleash power so immense it rivaled that of the god Hercules.

The Kronan Warrior Sif spoke of was a Krunan who excelled even among the already formidable Krunan warriors. These warriors possessed devastating combat skills and mastery of weaponry, their strikes capable of shattering stone.

"This is bad. I didn't expect them to have a Kronan Warrior's strength," Sif muttered, instinctively tightening her grip on her longsword. She moved with steady, guarded steps into a defensive stance. She had clashed with Kronan Warriors before and had been unable to breach their defenses. Without Thor's intervention, she would have faced a brutal battle, perhaps even a fight to the death.

Seeing Sif's grim expression and observing the Kronan Warrior in the center of the invaders' remnants, brandishing his spiked club and roaring loudly, Chen Chen wondered if Sif was being overly serious.
