The giant, invisible magnet pressed down on Adonis like a falling mountain.
He was pinned flat against the cold metal floor of the secret laboratory. The heavy, buzzing yellow light made the room feel like a nightmare. Just a few feet away, totally out of his reach, the tiny blue glass vial rolled to a stop. It was the only cure in the world for his dying son.
Adonis pushed with all his mighty strength. His massive arms shook, and the beautiful, brand-new black and white armor on his back groaned under the impossible weight. But he couldn't lift himself even a single inch.
The head scientist, the cruel man who had trapped him, stepped carefully around the edge of the invisible trap. He looked down at the God of War and laughed an ugly, wicked laugh.
"Look at the great Supreme Commander now," the scientist sneered, kicking a piece of scrap metal at Adonis's head. "You are supposed to be the scariest thing on Earth. But look at you! You're just a heavy, expensive paperweight."
