Nikki stared at the screen, her whole body trembling. The tiny baby wasn't just sick from the cold wind or the dirty dust. The cruel men who used to hide in Sector 5—the bad scientists who worked for Chancellor Vance—had created a terrible, invisible poison. And the baby had breathed it in while hiding under the broken rocks.
"They poisoned him," Nikki whispered, tears filling her eyes. She looked down into the little crib. The baby's breathing was shallow and fast. The angry, dark red lines on his little neck were spreading, making his skin burn with an unnatural fever.
