"My sensors indicate," Adonis whispered, his bright blue eyes wide with pure, innocent wonder, "that this tiny unit is... leaking."
For a moment, Nikki just stared at him. They were sitting in a giant, smoking crater in the middle of a destroyed city. They had just fallen from outer space, survived a burning spaceship crash, and defeated an evil ghost. Her body ached all over, her face was covered in gray soot, and she was so tired she could barely keep her eyes open.
And yet, looking at her giant, terrifying, metal husband holding a tiny, pink, squirming baby, Nikki couldn't help it.
She started to laugh.
It started as a small giggle, but it quickly turned into a loud, full-belly laugh. She laughed so hard that happy tears streamed right through the dirt on her cheeks. She leaned forward, resting her forehead against Adonis's massive, scorched arm.
