The giant, floating glass desk flashed with a terrible, blinding purple light. The countdown clock had started. In exactly three minutes, the invisible wave of energy would shoot down to Earth and wipe out every machine, every hospital, and every friend they had left.
"Stop her!" the glowing red ghost of General Blackwood screamed.
The heavy metal doors at the back of the room suddenly slid open. Ten more of the giant, ugly iron guards stomped into the central core. Their single red eyes glowed with angry fire, and they raised their massive fists, marching straight toward Nikki.
Adonis didn't wait for them to get close.
"Fix it, Nikki!" Adonis roared over the loud humming of the giant machine. "Stop the clock! I will keep them away from you!"
