Chapter 5 - THE SEARCH

(Keifer's POV)

The classroom felt wrong.

Too quiet.

Section E had never been quiet before. Someone was always arguing, laughing, throwing paper balls, or annoying the teacher. But now… everyone just sat there pretending everything was normal.

But nothing was normal.

Because Jay was gone.

No messages.

No calls.

No trace.

I stared at the empty seat where she used to sit.

My chest felt heavy in a way I had never felt before.

I had thought the plan would be funny at first.

Just revenge on Aries.

Make Jay fall for me.

Break her heart.

Simple.

But nothing about this felt simple anymore.

I slammed my hand lightly on the desk.

Edrix sighed from the seat behind me.

"Bro… you've been staring at that chair for ten minutes."

"Shut up," I muttered.

Ci-N leaned back in his chair, rubbing the back of his neck. For once he didn't look cocky or sarcastic.

He looked guilty.

"We didn't think she'd actually leave," he said quietly.

None of us did.

The classroom door suddenly opened and Aries walked in.

The room immediately went tense.

Everyone knew.

The truth about the plan had already come out.

Aries stopped in front of my desk, his eyes cold.

"Did you find her?"

I shook my head.

His jaw tightened.

For a moment it looked like he was going to punch me.

Honestly… I wouldn't have stopped him.

Instead he ran a hand through his hair and sat on the desk in front of me.

"This is messed up," he said quietly.

Edrix spoke next.

"We've been trying to call her. Her phone's off."

Ci-N nodded.

"Her socials are gone too."

Aries looked straight at me.

"You started this."

The words hit harder than any punch.

"I know," I said quietly.

For once I didn't argue.

Because he was right.

Ci-N hesitated before speaking again.

"Angelo told me something yesterday…"

Everyone looked at him.

He looked uncomfortable.

"Jay… didn't even know she was illegitimate."

Edrix frowned.

"What do you mean?"

Ci-N continued slowly.

"Her mom never told her. She only found out recently… when Percy told her and he is also her stepbrother "

Aries looked up.

"He's alive!?" he asked.

Ci-N nodded.

"Yeah."

The room fell silent.

I felt something twist in my chest.

Ci-N continued quietly.

"And apparently… her childhood was already ruined because of her mom's husbands. Angelo said some of them treated her really badly."

No one said anything.

We had thought we were just messing with someone for revenge.

But we never knew what she had already been through.

And after everything she suffered…

We made things worse.

I clenched my fists.

Later that evening we were all at Angelo's house.

Angelo had never looked so angry in his life.

He paced across the living room like he wanted to break something.

"I told you to stay away from my cousin!" he shouted at me.

His voice echoed through the room.

I didn't even try to defend myself.

But something inside me snapped.

"It's not only my fault!" I shouted back.

Everyone went silent.

"Her own brother didn't even accept her!" I continued. "Everyone kept pushing her away!"

Angelo clenched his fists.

For a moment it looked like he might punch me.

Instead he turned away, breathing heavily.

Tita Gemma sat on the couch quietly wiping tears from her eyes.

The house felt empty without Jay's loud voice arguing with everyone.

After a long silence, Aries spoke.

"So what's the plan?"

I pulled out my phone.

"I already contacted someone."

Edrix frowned.

"Who?"

"Private investigators."

Ci-N's eyes widened.

"You're serious?"

"Yeah," I said quietly.

Because I was.

Hours later I sat alone in my room reading the report the investigators had sent.

Airports.

Bus stations.

Travel records.

Possible sightings.

Nothing confirmed.

I leaned back in my chair, exhausted.

My phone buzzed.

It was Aries.

Any news?

I typed slowly.

Not yet.

I looked around my room.

Everything reminded me of her.

The hoodie she once stole.

The notebook she forgot after studying.

Even the snack wrappers she used to leave everywhere.

I picked up the notebook.

Inside were random song lyrics she had written during class.

I read one line quietly.

"Some people leave without saying goodbye."

My chest tightened.

I whispered into the empty room,

"Jay… where are you?"

For the first time since she disappeared…

I admitted something to myself.

This wasn't about revenge anymore.

This wasn't about Aries.

This wasn't even about Section E.

I missed her.

And no matter where she was in the world…

I was going to find her.

Even if it took everything.
