Sienna woke with her neck bent at an awkward angle and pain drilling through the side of her head.
Her wrists were still tied behind the chair, though the straps had been changed. Fresh ones, tighter than before.
Her throat felt raw. She must have cried herself into sleep. She turned toward the reinforced cell beside her. It was empty
The steel door opened, and she stiffened immediately. A guard stepped inside carrying a bottle of water and a small tray.
She glared through swollen eyes, "I hope it poisons me, it would be disappointing if it doesn't."
He crouched in front of her chair and began checking the wrist restraints.
Sienna jerked back. "Don't touch me."
"If I wanted to hurt you, I wouldn't bring water."
He loosened one strap slightly, blood rushed painfully back into her hand.
"There," he muttered.
She stared at him. "Why are you helping me?"
He looked toward the door first, then answered quietly.
