Elara couldn't face Lyra.
She only allowed herself to enter the room after she was informed that Lyra was fast asleep. At other times, it was Max who looked after her.
A strange routine soon formed between the two sisters. Max would step in to take care of Lyra when she regained consciousness, and Elara would take charge as soon as she fell into a deep sleep. It wasn't intentional; the routine just came to them naturally. It was an unspoken agreement between the two sisters.
Fortunately, as soon as morning broke the next day, Lyra's fever vanished completely, without a trace.
The doctor was relieved the most. He was still tending to her because she was far too debilitated. Even now, he was entirely certain that if the woman were to die, he too would be killed at the hands of the Chairwoman.
"All that's left to do now is to leave it to the patient," he carefully informed Elara, who had grabbed the sleeping woman's hand the moment she drifted off.
