A sharp scream erupted through the room.
Lyra's scream was so loud that the others found it hard to believe she was the exact same woman who had been suffering, nearly dying, just a few moments ago.
"Lyra!" Max called out, taking a sudden step toward the bed.
The doctor stood uselessly at her side, immobilized by the chaos, while Jamie retreated a step back to avoid being seen. They watched in shock, but Elara remained surprisingly calm as she held down the thrashing woman.
"It's all right. You'll be fine soon," Elara promised quietly.
She used her weight to overpower Lyra, who was struggling wildly. Lyra fixed her eyes on Elara and frantically pushed at her approaching face, trying to break her hold.
"Don't! Get away from me! I don't want it!" Lyra screamed at the top of her lungs.
"Don't be stubborn, Lyra," Elara grunted. She held Lyra's head still, trying to force the back of her neck open for the mark.
"My baby! It's my family! Who are you to kill my family?!"
