Chapter 4 - Chapter 4

I arrive in front of a massive cave and smile a little at the name floating above the cave. The dungeon is called Goblin Nest. It is a shame that goblins are not classified as a beast-type creature, but rather as a demi-human type, because they are among the most evolved creatures.

I shake my head and check on my stats once again.

After reaching level fifteen, I return to the starting city, called Ashenvale, to craft more equipment. What? I will not throw away all the materials from the Grey Wolves, after all. It will not help me as a magic-oriented class, but it increases my survivability as it increases my HP, physical defense, and magic defense. Not only that, but as a set, it also increases my AGI by 10% as long as I wear it.

I also check my inventory and nod my head at the large amount of health and mana potions. I also have a dozen Tier-2 scrolls for emergencies. Most of them are AOE spells, but there are a few escape spells that allow me to retreat.

I shake my head and enter the cave.

As I enter the cave, the scenery changes very seamlessly. One moment, I am in the middle of a forest, and the next thing I know, I am inside a dark cave. The first thing I see is a group of three goblins charging at me.

"Go!"

I order my companion to aggro, and wait for the entire group of goblins targeting my companion. When they are attacking my companion, I immediately cast spells at the enemies.

"Acid Arrow! Magic missile!"

Two spells hit one of the goblins, and I watched it fall to the ground, dead. As expected of the level difference. As I'm level 15, my stats are significantly higher than theirs. They are level 5, after all.

With this in mind, I do not hesitate and fire more spells.

"Magic Arrow! Firebolt!"

I kill the second goblin, and my companion takes the third one. I collect the loot and walk deeper into the dungeon. I open a tap and read through the data sheet about this dungeon. What? I want to explore, not waste my time in a dungeon.

I will try to find dungeons on my own, but I will not waste my time in a dungeon by figuring out all the traps and which room is a fake room or the real one.

I read through the document for a moment and follow the optimal route. I destroy the traps and fire a spell to trigger monster waves before I enter the area where I will be surrounded. I let them come to me, and let my companion tank all the monsters and exploit the narrow path so they cannot get near me.

"Spiritual Healing!"

I also make sure to heal my companion using a healing spell that targets spirits because my companion is a spirit.

I also make sure to follow the ABC rule of DPS, Always Be Casting. No matter how seemingly useless a spell is, as long as you are doing damage, the enemies will die, and your party will survive.

That is what I learn as a gamer. At a party raid, everyone needs to do DPS, even the healer. To do that, one always needs to be casting. The longer you fight a boss, the higher the chance that the Boss releases a Fart of Doom that will wipe the entire party.

The monster waves do not last long as the narrow path helps me immensely. Knowing what comes next really helps the fight. However, it looks like even at level 7, my companion cannot last long. I spend a good chunk of my mana to keep him alive.

According to the data I have, this dungeon is all about monster rush. That level recommendation is misleading because a regular level 5 will be obliterated in this dungeon. Tanaka and his team decide to put this dungeon like that, huh? Technically, they are not lying. They only recommend players to reach level 5 before entering the dungeon, but it does not say anything about the number of players in the party.

I shake my head and take out all the Data Crystals from the mobs I hunt, then push them inside my companion. I nod in satisfaction when my companion reaches level 10. Even with my new buff, getting a lot of Data Crystals will take time. It appears that I need to hunt higher-level mobs to obtain better data crystals.

I will go EQ hunting after I am done here. For now, I need to complete the dungeon. After drinking three mana potions, I walk deeper into the dungeon. Once again, I make sure traps are avoided or activated from a distance in case there is a treasure chest waiting for me near the traps.

As we get deeper, we encounter more and more goblins. Not only that, but their levels also increase steadily until they reach level 8. It turns out level 8 is the highest level for the mobs in this dungeon. I know the boss will have a higher level, and I know it has a high chance of being level 10.

After another few minutes of walking, I reach a massive iron door at the end of the dungeon. This is the door to the boss's room. According to the data, it is a Hobgoblin, a Tanky boss with high HP and Physical Defense, but it is relatively slow.

I heal my companion to its full health, increase my wizard level to 15, and restore my HP and MP. When I am done, I push the door and enter the room. I can see a hobgoblin, a two-meter-tall creature holding a giant cleaver.

It roars and charges at me.

My companion blocks the boss and gains the enmity. I grin and start bombarding the boss with my spells. After reaching level 15 in the wizard class, I can now use Tier-3 spells and use my favorite spell.

"Fireball!"

An explosion is happening, and I grin at the good chunk of health disappearing in an instant. I am not done. I release more spells to bombard the boss.

"Fire Arrows! Magic Arrow! Magic Missile! Acid Arrow!"

When the boss looks at me, and I gain its enmity, I grin and cast a buffing spell.

"Haste!"

My AGI speed increases, and I start running. My companion keeps hitting the boss, trying to gain its enmity once again. It takes a minute of full running and dodging, but my companion gains the enmity once again.

Just like that, I continue to release all the spells I have. It does not take long before the boss roars and falls to the ground, dead.

I smile a little and pick up all the loot on the ground. I check the inventory and smile a little. I also get an accessory that will help me as a magic caster. The ring is called [Hilor's Ring], and it increases my resistance to all elements by 2% and increases my Physical and Magical defense as well.

This is the bonus drop from being the first one to clear it. It has not been announced because the dungeon is still 'fresh,' allowing real players also to receive the bonus.

Anyway, I will return to Ashenvale before I log off.

As I log off, I see the system appear in front of me once again.

I grunt a little as the rush of knowledge enters my head before warm feelings wash over my body. I grin a little because now I know all of the things my character knows. I am now a magic caster.

I have mana, and I can experiment with it in this world. I can now do something that the game cannot do because of data limitations. Reality has a lot more freedom than a game, after all. I already have a lot of things I want to test. Can I copy a magic system from another world? Harry Potter? DnD? I know that YGGDRASIL uses the same concept as the one from DnD, after all. What about DC's magic? That place contains a lot of magic systems.

I shake my head and get off my pod.

After I get off the pod, I can hear a knock on my door and hear Rin's voice from behind the door.

"Sir? Are you done playing?"

"Come in, Rin."

Rin opens the door, and I sit on my chair.

"What is it?"

"Tanaka and his team want to know how your experience is in their game."

"Oh? Aren't they watching? They can do that, right?"

"They do not want to spy on you, sir. They would rather ask you when you are done, so they only monitor when you are playing."

"Fair enough. As for the game, it is fun. The movement input is seamless, and the world is beautiful. They are doing a great job. Please extend my compliments to them and increase the marketing budget. I have a feeling that this game will get us a lot of money."

"Of course, sir. I shall do that."

"Ah, before you go, call my chauffeur, will you? I need to return home. I need to do something and decide to return early."

"Yes, sir."

I smile and watch her leave my office, letting me think of what kind of experiment I should make when I return home.
