Iwagakure Jōnin Higashi Shinin, a powerful figure renowned for his ruthless, iron-blooded nature and command of large-scale military operations, led Iwagakure's main army like a breaching torrent of earth and stone. They violently crushed the weak resistance of the Land of Grass, their vanguard pointing directly at the Land of Fire mainland.
Iwagakure's strategy was simple and effective: relying on a numerical superiority of ninja that far surpassed Konoha's, they engaged in frontal, head-on, crushing advances. Countless Iwa ninja battered Konoha's defenses like a tide; they were skilled in Earth Release, possessed dense defenses, and advanced relentlessly.
When the news reached Konoha, the Third Hokage Hiruzen Sarutobi was overwhelmed. The pressure of fighting on multiple fronts stretched Konoha's forces thin. He had to almost completely drain the village's internal defenses just to scrape together a force capable of resisting Higashi Shinin's main army.
"Order! Effective immediately, Jiraiya will be fully responsible for the northwest front!" Hiruzen's voice carried an unprecedented gravity as he entrusted the command to his disciple.
The legendary ninja with long white hair accepted the mission and rushed to the front line. When he saw the Iwagakure ninja covering the mountains and plains—their slow but unstoppable formation resembling a moving fortress—his expression became extremely serious.
The battle erupted instantly!
"Earth Release: Earth Flow River!" "Earth Release: Rock Stealing Rod!"
The Iwa forces utilized large-scale terrain alteration to swallow and divide Konoha's defense line. Jiraiya led the charge from the very front.

"This can't go on!" Jiraiya looked at his exhausted subordinates and made a drastic decision. He needed power that could turn the tide of the battle in one fell swoop. He found a secure corner and summoned the two Toad Sages, Fukasaku and Shima.
Jiraiya sat cross-legged, focused his mind, and began absorbing Natural Energy. The coordination with the two Sages had been honed through multiple real battles. When he opened his eyes again, his pupils had transformed into horizontal lines. A terrifying pressure spread out from him!

Jiraiya's hair swept toward the Iwa forces like a metallic storm, while the combination of Wind, Fire, and Oil from the three Sages created a sweeping torrent of flames, turning Iwa positions into scorched earth.
Jiraiya charged into the enemy formation like a war beast! Wherever he went, Iwagakure ninja fell in droves, and their sturdy Earth Release defenses crumbled like paper. Higashi Shinin attempted to mobilize elite forces to suppress him, but found it impossible. Iwagakure's numerical advantage, in the face of power that transcended conventional ninjutsu, appeared utterly ineffective for the first time.
The situation was forcefully reversed by one man. The name of Jiraiya once again echoed across the world, but this time with a new title: "Toad Sage." Konoha's northwest defense line finally stabilized. However, everyone knew that as long as the "Toad Sage" stood there, Iwagakure's iron hooves would not advance another step.
