Chapter 101 - Too Late

The next day when Johann's judgment finally arrived. Gregustus saw that his daughter was still sitting in silence with her head lowered beside her bed. He approached her with a heavy heart.

"My daughter, will you come there with me?" the emperor asked. Glynpatra only slowly shook her head. He sat down beside his daughter.

"I know you are deeply devastated by what happened to Johann. I also never imagined that he could do something like that. His actions have provoked the anger of our people, Glynpatra. Whether we like it or not, he must face it..." said him. Glynpatra glanced at her father.

"He only destroyed the chair, Father...!!! Besides, that throne has already been rebuilt! Why couldn't you simply canceled it?!?!" Glynpatra said irritably. The Emperor immediately let out a long sigh.

"B-Because if I defended him, then it would mean I was siding with someone who is not truly one of us! I fear that almost all of our people would no longer trust me again! That's why I cannot do much, especially now that the law regarding that sanctity has already been established, Glynpatra." Gregustus replied.

"F-Father is the emperor right now! Why can't Father use your authority?!?!" Glynpatra protested. Gregustus merely fell silent as though he could not answer.

"D-Don't tell me... Father feels guilty over your actions in the past on Planet Grohn, so you no longer feels capable to face it now?!"

"That's enough!!! Never bring that up again! If you don't wish to come, then so be it!!!" the emperor said loudly before leaving her room. Glynpatra hugged the photograph of her late mother and cried on it.

Gregustus then met Gruzhnil and invited him to go together to the coliseum with his personal shuttlecraft. Gruzhnil noticed that the emperor looked like someone under great pressure.

"Her Highness still doesn't wish to watch the event, Your Majesty?" Gruzhnil asked. The emperor once again only slowly shook his head. A moment later he glanced toward Gruzhnil.

"Gruzhnil, what do you think? If our judges were to hand Johann the death sentence according to the demands of our people, would that make Great Lord David furious? To be honest, I'm truly afraid if that happens. His position is already above all of us, and it was Johann who made Lord David capable of behaving like us." Gregustus said.

"Yes, Your Majesty. That is why I'm deeply grateful that He interrupted yesterday's trial and chose to personally handle Johann..."

"Honestly, I believe Great Lord David would never execute him. I have observed the dynamic between the two of them ever since they first arrived here until now. Even if He eventually shatters the expectations of our people, they will no longer be able to oppose because His authority has already surpassed all of them. They may be forced to understand that He doesn't hold the same principles they expect Him to have." the emperor confessed. Gruzhnil nodded in agreement.

"Has Tiberos already returned to Planet Grohn, or does he also wish to watch this event?" Gregustus asked again. Gruzhnil paused for a moment before answering.

"Are you having some sort of problem with Tiberos?" he asked again while patting Gruzhnil's shoulder.

"F-Forgive me, no, Your Majesty. I was just recalling something. I saw him at headquarters this morning. It seems that he will also come to the coliseum later...." Gruzhnil replied while immediately turning toward the emperor.

"If I may say so, Tiberos is a difficult man to understand. I remember that before the tragedy that befell my wife, he often came to complain about the condition of his planet. It was not that I was unwilling to listen to him. We helped him as much as we could, though perhaps I could not fulfill every one of his requests. I also had to consider the condition of Planet Grivendal as the center of government and the decisions of High Heaven. Yet after that tragedy, and perhaps after my highly controversial actions, I'm still grateful that Tiberos has remained loyal to me..." the emperor explained.

However, Gruzhnil became even quieter. He understood perfectly well that Gregustus knew absolutely nothing about Tiberos's journal. Glynpatra also apparently had not revealed it at all. Upon arriving at the coliseum, the emperor went directly to the special stage and sat there without Glynpatra beside him. He watched the event anxiously, hoping that David would do something to save Johann.

Back at the palace, Glynpatra, who was still inside her room, was suddenly startled when something resembling a portal appeared. It turned out to be Mendicore and Sherubiel.

"Your Highness, the duel between Lord David and Johann is already underway. I can see that Tiberos has begun making his move inside the coliseum. We must go there immediately before he reaches your father!" Mendicore became anxious. Glynpatra immediately took her bow and entered the portal together with them.

When they emerged, they found themselves in one of the coliseum's corridors. Glynpatra recognized the route, and they followed it. When they reached a doorway leading outside, she asked the two of them to wait there first. Glynpatra immediately hurried toward her father, who was completely focused on watching the fierce battle between David and Johann. The spectators had already become unruly, demanding that David execute Johann immediately. Glynpatra also realized that her father's guards were nowhere to be seen.

"F-Father...!!! We have to leave this place immediately...!!! Father is no longer safe here riiight nooowww...!!!" she quickly grasped her father's arm.

"W-Wait a moment... Why are you so frightened, Glynpatraaa...?!?! Calm yourself first...!!!" Gregustus startled by her sudden appearance.

"T-There's no time, Fatherrr...!!! Uncle Gruzhnil already knows all of his corruption...!!! He... Tiberos... is targeting Fatherrr right nooowww...!!!" Glynpatra pleaded through tears. The emperor was still trying to comprehend the urgency of the situation.

"A-Alright, we will leave first..."

Gregustus and Glynpatra then left the platform and immediately encountered Mendicore and Sherubiel once they reentered the building. Mendicore had already created his portal.

"Your Majesty! We will explain everything in a safer place. But first, we must leave this coliseum through my portal!" Mendicore said.

The emperor simply complied, and they all stepped into Mendicore's portal. Not long afterward, several people who appeared to be Graendall soldiers approached the platform and were shocked to see that Gregustus was no longer there. One of them immediately contacted someone through a communication device.

"Lord Tiberos! It seems he has already realized of our plan!"

Mendicore's portal opened at the rear section of a shuttlecraft, and everyone stepped out. The emperor immediately recognized the place.

"We must get away from Tiberos, Father! We must return to the palace first!" Glynpatra panicked.

The emperor nodded and immediately headed toward the cockpit, where a single pilot was on duty. The pilot looked shocked when the Emperor suddenly appeared before him. He ordered him to return to the palace.

"Now explain to me the meaning of all this! What exactly is Gruzhnil doing over there?!" Gregustus demanded.

Mendicore then explained briefly and directly to the point about Tiberos' plan, which had been built over many years according to his secret journal. The emperor was shocked beyond belief upon hearing the truth about one of his commanders. Glynpatra began crying again halfway through it.

"H-How... How could he have planned such enormous chaos for so many years...?!?!" Gregustus clutched his head with both hands.

"Your Majesty...!!! Another shuttlecraft is pursuing us...!!!" the pilot shouted from the front. The emperor immediately panicked and ordered the pilot to increase their speed.

"C-Could it be... that bastard Tiberos...?!?!" Glynpatra shouted.

"That is correct, Your Highness! I never expected him to discover our hidden plan so quickly!" Mendicore replied.

Suddenly, Tiberos's shuttlecraft attacked Gregustus' aircraft with its weapons. Everyone was terrified. The emperor ordered the pilot to fly even faster. Tiberos's aircraft fired a laser that successfully struck the lower rear section of Gregustus' shuttlecraft. As a result, the aircraft slowed down considerably.

"Your Majesty, I cannot fly any faster! It would risk causing our engines to explode!" the pilot said. The emperor fell silent for a moment. Glynpatra tightly embraced Sherubiel in overwhelming fear.

"Land the aircraft immediately! I will face Tiberos myself!" the emperor declared firmly.

"F-Fatherrr...!!! He could kill youuu...!!! We must keep going until we reach the palaceee...!!!" Glynpatra cried as she rushed toward Gregustus. He immediately cupped his daughter's cheeks.

"My beloved Glynpatra, I have finally realized that he has been harboring hatred toward me for a very long time. This is also my fault because I allowed him to remain free for far too long. Now it is already too late to correct everything. I'm the one who must face him...." the emperor said gently. Glynpatra still cried while holding both of her father's arms.

"I-I will stay with Father until that moment comes!" she said through sobs.

The emperor then ordered the pilot to land on a wide open plain. Gregustus took up his personal spear, while Glynpatra also readied her bow just in case. Once they had landed, the two of them stepped outside, and Tiberos' shuttlecraft had also already landed. Tiberos walked out accompanied by two soldiers.

"You have gone far beyond this limits, Tiberooosss...!!!" the emperor shouted.

"And you and your empire will come to an end right here, Gregustuuusss...!!!" Tiberos shouted back as he drew the twin axes from his back.
