Chapter 100 - The Hidden Architect

Everyone except David was once again shocked upon hearing Gruzhnil's statement. Glynpatra's dark memories were triggered again when she heard the name of her late mother, and she looked about to cry.

"H-How... h-how could U-Uncle know about this right now?! U-Uncle has been close to him for a very long time...!!!" Glynpatra said emotionally while sobbing.

Gruzhnil said that he had obtained all of this information from someone close to him in the military intelligence division. He said that he had just learned about this two weeks ago, but instead of informing Gruzhnil immediately, he searched for facts and evidence first. It all began when The Graendall of Planet Grohn was asked to submit its annual report. However, he noticed one strange file titled "My Dream", and when he opened it, it had been written by Tiberos. After reading the entire manuscript, the man was deeply shocked because its contents were truly beyond anything he had expected before.

Tiberos recounted the resentment that he had harbored all this time toward the Grivendal Empire, which always adhered to a bloodline system through the twin sons of Archangel Marsiel. He believed that this system had become outdated and wished to return to a governmental system based on leadership ability regardless of one's social class.

He then explained why several policies of the Grivendal Empire still depended on High Heaven. According to him, they should have governed the cosmos autonomously instead of relying on them. The Element of Desire created by Grivendal should have belonged entirely to them instead of being handed over to High Heaven. Tiberos believed that this limitless energy could be used to expand their territory into other solar systems. He had once discussed this with Gregustus, but it had been rejected because High Heaven would certainly not approve.

Another grievance he expressed was how the emperor's administration was, in his view, unfair not only toward Planet Grohn but also toward other planets. Tiberos understood that his planet was incomparable to the fertile and green Planet Grivendal. The people of Grohn constantly searched for ways to produce quality food like Grivendal, but they often failed. Tiberos sometimes requested assistance from the authorities there, but they rarely took his requests seriously. Several high-ranking commanders also complained about the same issue. He also regretted that Gruzhnil lacked sensitivity regarding this problem.

More and more citizens complained about Gregustus' policies, making the idea of separating their planet from the Grivendal Empire increasingly popular. Tiberos shared that vision, but because of his military position, he could not openly declare it. In the end, he planned to create a fake opposition faction to disguise the conflict that he himself was orchestrating. It was also he who fabricated the narrative that he and several others had fled to Planet Grivendal to seek asylum.

When Glyresa learned that the conflict was escalating, she courageously took the initiative to meet the key figures of the opposition faction directly, accompanied by Tiberos and Gruzhnil. Initially, Tiberos instructed those faction to kidnap Glyresa in order to threaten Gregustus into seceding Grohn. Tiberos also knew that High Heaven strictly forbade civil wars.

However, what actually happened was that one of them attacked and killed Glyresa. Not long afterward, Gregustus immediately ordered nearly the entire Graendall military to surround Planet Grohn and hunt down those involved with the opposition to be punished. Most of the people whom Tiberos had formed into that faction were executed. Tiberos was initially terrified that he would be exposed as the mastermind behind the original plan because he personally witnessed Gruzhnil relentlessly pursuing and punishing those branded as traitors. Economic activity on that planet collapsed because of the operation. All the people of Grohn lived in fear that they too might be suspected of supporting the opposition faction. To them, those days would never be forgotten, and they called it Bloody Months.

After quite some time, Tiberos was assigned once again to govern Planet Grohn. He reunited with the people he had chosen, who had been hiding in mountain caves. They thanked Tiberos for giving them the opportunity to teach Gregustus a lesson over the death of his wife. However, people of Grohn had been traumatized by the actions of Gregustus and Gruzhnil. They desperately wanted to separate from Grivendal, but that desire was nothing more than a dream because there was no higher authority left to defend them. High Heaven also appeared not to punish Gregustus for his actions, and that was what made Tiberos increasingly frustrated and determined to find a way to free the people of Grohn.

Suddenly Glynpatra cried loudly after hearing that report. Gruzhnil immediately stopped read that documents. Sherubiel immediately grasped Glynpatra's hand to calm her. Grelmure also gently patted her shoulder. David merely watched her.

"What are we waiting fooorrr, U-Uncle...!!! H-Hurry up and arrest that baaastaaard...!!! He's the one who caused my moootheeer's death...!!!" Glynpatra screamed as she continued crying. Gruzhnil swallowed hard because he knew that this revelation would deeply disturb her.

"Your Highness... Please calm yourself first! I cannot simply arrest that man... I must find a way to convince the law that Tiberos is the mastermind behind all of this! If we move against him immediately, all that will happen is a clash with our fellow soldiers!" Gruzhnil suppressed his anger after knew that truth.

"Isn't this enough...?!?! Arrest him now, U-Uncle, with evidence like thiiiis...!!! Punish him as severely as possible for what he did to my moootheeer...!!!" Glynpatra screamed again. Gruzhnil took several deep breaths while closing his eyes.

"Glynpatra... I understand how you feel right now... But once again... this will be extremely difficult. Allow me to admit my negligence in failing to realize all of this until now. But at this moment... Tiberos has already secretly influenced the people of the other planets, as well as part of the population on this planet..."

Gruzhnil continued by saying that Tiberos had been incredibly cunning in taking advantage of the period after the great war to gather support from other planets and win the sympathy of the people of Planet Grivendal. He initially lamented that his plans had been delayed when David and Johann arrived on their planet. After that, when Sherubiel and Mendicore also appeared there, Tiberos had already suspected that High Heaven was hiding some secret problem. This became even more apparent when Archangel Geriel came twice but never once asked them to return home.

"And then Tiberos created the narrative that his team had uncovered the hideout of that terrorists. He merely staged a scene in which his team supposedly raided the remaining terrorists hiding in that underground chamber. Tiberos also had absolutely no idea where the victim's bodies disposed and he created another narrative that the bodies had been thrown into the forest and eaten by Groths. The people of Grivendal now believe that Tiberos successfully captured those terrorists and have placed their trust in him. I truly never imagined that my friend from the days when we were ordinary soldiers would become this cunning!" Gruzhnil concluded his report.

"S-So... our three-day official journey and the monument dedicated to Lord David were only meant to show that Tiberos had won the sympathy of the majority of our people???" Grelmure said with his eyes wide open. Gruzhnil merely nodded while lowering his head.

"U-Uncle...!!! Hurry up and do something...!!! He's going to kill Fatherrrr...!!!" Glynpatra screamed while crying and violently shaking Gruzhnil's arm. Yet he seemed to have run out of words to comfort his niece. Sherubiel once again tried to calm Glynpatra.

"When will Johann be punished?" David asked. Everyone immediately turned toward him, and even Glynpatra stopped crying.

"T-Tomorrow the trial will be held first, my Lord..." Gruzhnil replied.

"I will come there..."

"W-What... Will Lord David become a witness for Johann? I-I must contact the court first..."

"No, just watch! Bring your men as well!" David ordered. Gruzhnil and the others fell silent again but merely nodded.

The next day, David, Gruzhnil, and several of his trusted elite soldiers interrupted Johann's trial and publicly declared that he would personally deal with Johann in the Arena of Judgment. Afterward, David left the courthouse, boarded his shuttlecraft, and returned to headquarters. There, Glynpatra, Grelmure, Sherubiel, and Mendicore were already inside the aircraft, watching the live broadcast of Johann's trial.

"L-Lord Daviiiddd... how are you going to save Father from that evil Tiberos?!?!" Glynpatra immediately approached him. David sat down first.

"They will not appear... unless it happens tomorrow..." David said. Glynpatra still looked confused as she tried to understand his words.

"My Lord... forgive me if I don't mean to doubt your plan. But if someday they discover this plan, will everything not become complete chaos?" Gruzhnil confused. David immediately looked at him again.

"You said... it was already too late, didn't you?" David replied. Gruzhnil remained silent. David then glanced toward Glynpatra.

"Tell Johann to continue following everything I do! Tomorrow, when I deal with him in the arena, before it reaches its climax, take the emperor away from there. Remember, only all of us know this!" David ordered her and Mendicore. Glynpatra merely nodded.

That night, she carried out what David had instructed by secretly visiting Johann in the underground prison when accompanying her father inspected the preparations for the next day's event. Glynpatra had also come to understand David's plan after Mendicore explained it to her.

"I hope tomorrow's events will not turn out too badly, commander..." Grelmure said quietly while accompanying Gruzhnil at the coliseum. Gruzhnil's eye became somewhat distant.
