"Johann seems amazed by the actions of Commander Gruzhnil and Sir Hellraider!" said Mendicore behind us.
"Yesss... Yes... I know they are very strong. But remember we are at war not watching a live broadcast!" Grelmure said firmly.
"S-Sorry..." I said while scratching the back of my head.
I was actually confused why this real and full struggle battle instead looked like entertainment to me. Was it because I felt safe and Hellraider would contribute the most in this war? If referring to the gameplay it should be like that.
But I remembered my nightmare again and realized that we all must push back those monsters to prevent an even greater catastrophe.
I immediately returned to targeting the horde of monsters with the available weapons and occasionally directed the camera to Gruzhnil and Hellraider to make sure they were safe.
"Can we talk to them through the radio here, Sir Grelmure?" I asked while aiming at the monsters.
"Yes to the commander, because the radio here is connected to his armor. But I don't know about Sir Hellraider. The commander also didn't tell me." Grelmure answered.
Not long after that, something strange happened on the battlefield. More and more monsters began charging toward Gruzhnil and Hellraider. Both of them fought hard to defeat them. However it was seen that Gruzhnil began to be overwhelmed because more monsters attacked him than Hellraider. He quickly slaughtered the monsters surrounding Gruzhnil.
"Direct the attack toward the monsters running toward them...!!! Let Lord Hellraider slaughter the monsters surrounding the commander...!!!" said one of the soldiers on the radio channel.
The shuttle guard began focusing their fire according to that order. I also participated in trying to reduce the crowd of monsters around Gruzhnil and Hellraider. Glynpatra also continuously fired her arrows at them.
While Gruzhnil struggled to attack and defend, suddenly from the ground where he stood appeared a kind of large black fangs that in a circular manner grabbed Gruzhnil's right leg. Another part emerged and I was shocked because it was Licoth attacking from underground.
Gruzhnil lost balance as the monster began writhing wildly until he started to fall. But when its body became fully visible, the Licoth immediately threw Gruzhnil away from Hellraider. As he tried to get up, I saw many similar monsters surrounding him.
Suddenly all those Licoths spewed hot lava from their mouths toward Gruzhnil. He collapsed again with his whole body covered in lava. His entire armor began to spark electricity.
"Nooo... Nooo...!!! The commander is in danger...!!! We must save him immediately...!!! Shoooot those damn monsters Johann...!!!" Grelmure shouted in panic.
"Hold on commmaaandeeer...!!! We will slaaaughter them all...!!!" Grelmure shouted on the radio.
As quickly as possible I destroyed the monsters approaching Gruzhnil using the laser. Of course I would not use rockets and machine guns because of the high risk of injuring him.
"Uncleee... I will save youuu...!!!"
Glynpatra sounded panicked behind me and also accelerated her arrow shots to help eliminate the seemingly endless monsters.
Unexpectedly, Hellraider immediately jumped toward Gruzhnil and brutally slashed those Licoths with his sword. He even summoned a shotgun in his left hand and destroyed one Licoth by thrusting it into its mouth.
After the monsters around them were slaughtered, Hellraider immediately carried Gruzhnil to bring him to the defense line. I observed Gruzhnil's movements as if he was enduring extreme pain. When I zoomed in the camera, both of his upper arms that were not protected by armor suffered severe burns.
Suddenly I saw something strange from the left corner of my view, it turned out to be my slot interface.
Why did something like this appear randomly again? I felt this interface had its own awareness.
I observed one of the slots which was a pain relief spray. I don't know what was in my mind, I immediately grabbed it. Unexpectedly the spray appeared in my hand!
Did this slot react when I saw Gruzhnil injured?
"Sir Grelmureee...!!! Lower the aircraft toward them! I will give this!" I said loudly.
"What kind of thing is that Johann??? I told you don't play around in a situation like this...!!!" Grelmure shouted at me.
"Johann, you can summon items very quickly?!" asked Mendicore.
Oh nooo... I just realized Mendicore had been behind me all this time...
"Trust me now...!!! Mendicoreee... Help me deliver this to the commander using your portal!" I said firmly.
I immediately returned to Glynpatra's position followed by Mendicore. She was crying seeing Gruzhnil as if dying. Our aircraft began descending toward him.
"W-What are you going to do, Johann?" Glynpatra asked while sobbing.
"I will give this healing to Gruzhnil,"
"Mendicore, open the portal to them!" I glanced at it.
A small portal immediately formed in front of me.
In front of them, the same portal appeared simultaneously. Hellraider looked surprised and stopped for a moment.
"Sir Hellraideeerrr...!!! Spray this on the commmaaandeeer...!!!"
He then looked at me.
I immediately inserted my hand holding the spray into the portal. Below, Hellraider took it. Gruzhnil who was still in pain was laid down and he sprayed it over his entire body. Not long after, Gruzhnil raised his hand, Hellraider grabbed it and helped him stand. This time he could walk normally and was still carried by him toward the frontline soldiers.
"I don't know how that happened but I'm very grateful you saved Uncle, Johann...!!!" said Glynpatra while hugging me and crying happily.
I just smiled. Suddenly I remembered the incident at Lazar Nuclear Power Plant where one of the special forces protected me from a hell lizard's spit and I couldn't help him at all when he was in pain.
Then also when Hellraider first came here, he almost killed Gruzhnil in a duel. But now he saved him when Gruzhnil was almost dying on the battlefield.
Gruzhnil was successfully brought to the line of soldiers. They quickly placed him on a stretcher and took him to a special vehicle that looked like a battlefield ambulance.
Suddenly I was shocked by a bright red light coming from the ancient portal. Some small portals disappeared. But something surprising happened, the remaining portals instead grew larger until they were the same size as the ancient portal.
The ground seemed to shake as if a giant was walking, but I didn't see where it came from. Wait...!!! could it be...
I looked again at the giant portals and indeed, from the ancient portal emerged a giant monster and walked toward us...
"BY THE ARCHANGEL MARSIEL...!!! WHAT DEMONS IS THAAATTT...?!?!?!"
The soldiers inside shouted in horror when they saw it.
"That's an Arch-Judgementor! I didn't expect they would send an even bigger monster now!" Mendicore sounded shocked as well.
That monster immediately destroyed the remaining structures of the ancient portal perimeter in front of it. But as if we had not reduced our fear from just the Arch-Judgementor, from the other portals began to appear giant hell monsters not only that—
—but also Arch-Licoth.
The massive hell serpents began to crawl, entered the ground and emerged again while emitting a loud screeching sound.
"Father tells us all to retreat first...!!! Let the Graganthurion troops fight them...!!!" said Glynpatra.
Suddenly I remembered one of the scenes in the game involving Arch-Licot.
"Princess! If our Graganthurion gets coiled by that giant serpent, they will be easily destroyed by the Arch-Judgementor! I think we must all help defeat them too!"
"Johann is right, Princess... That hell serpent called Arch-Licot is a fatal weakness for our giant robots. My suggestion is all air troops focus on attacking the Arch-Licot that tries to coil Graganthurion..." said Mendicore.
Glynpatra immediately communicated again with the emperor and explained my suggestion and Mendicore's.
"Father says ground troops keep attacking the giant Judgementor and stop if one Graganthurion tries to defeat it. Air troops will focus on attacking that hell serpent..."
I nodded and immediately returned to the pilot room.
"I didn't expect this would become even more difficult..." said Grelmure.
"We will get through it!" I said.
I again tried targeting the Arch-Licot with various weapons. Difficulty began to appear as the monster twisted and entered the ground quickly to avoid air attacks. Several rocket and even laser shots failed to hit Arch-Licot.
It was seen that the Graganthurion battalion began attacking the Arch-Judgementor group. Some who still held giant weapons shot them and some succeeded in bringing them down. Others dropped their weapons and engaged in close combat when the monsters approached them. They delivered consecutive punches and when the monster fell they stomped its head several times with the robot's feet until it was destroyed.
I thought indeed the Graganthurion pilots must be elite soldiers and they seemed to learn brutal combat techniques like Hellraider.
Suddenly our aircraft descended. What was Grelmure doing???
"Johann, I received a call from the Princess that she saw Sir Hellraider waving his hand at us. It seems he wants to board this aircraft..."
Ooohhh... would Hellraider help us defeat that giant monster?
Again my shoulder was tapped and it was the same pilot.
"The Princess asks you to go there immediately... I will continue your duty here..."
I immediately went there to meet Glynpatra and suddenly Hellraider jumped into our aircraft. I was bit startled but felt very happy. He observed all of us and turned back facing outside again.
"Ohhh nooo... one of the Graganthurion is being coiled by that monster! We must help release it...!!!" shouted one of the soldiers.
We immediately saw it and indeed almost the entire body except the head of the robot was coiled by Arch-Licot. Some other aircraft began shooting it to try to release the robot.
Unexpectedly Hellraider summoned his weapon, MKM-999, right in front of everyone. Glynpatra and the other soldiers who saw it were extremely shocked.
"Move back!" said Hellraider loudly while starting to charge his weapon.
