"You won't be returning to Cortland."
The statement was like a thunderclap had suddenly struck across the room.
Sonia's eyes widened, her expression flickered slightly with unbelief and shock and her breathing grew heavy.
"What?" She rasped when she recovered her voice.
Adams frowned slightly mirroring his dissatisfaction. "Are you seriously planning to go back to the same place where you almost lost your life?"
"Yes." Her answer came without hesitation, Adams' brows drew together. His expression boarded dangerously between shock and helplessness.
"Why?" He asked begrudgingly.
Sonia shrugged. "Because although I was hurt there... not everyone hurt me." A small smile curled up her lips. "There are people there who genuinely care about me."
She exhaled, her gaze drifting to the window and into the distant sky, her lips still curled into that soft smile.
"They're probably turning the entire city upside down searching for me even after so long."
