"How will you tell her?" Fred's voice was low, yet it rippled through the silent corridor and echoed in Adams' head far more times than it should have.
"How will you tell her?"
He repeated the question silently to himself.
He didn't know why, but it seemed every syllable of those words had pierced straight through his mind and buried itself deep within his memory.
Adams paused slightly.
They hadn't really considered anything of the sort, and now he had only a few minutes before meeting her.
His heart thumped hard against his chest while his mind spun with countless thoughts.
Yet after every possibility he considered, his thoughts always circled back to one unavoidable question.
How will he really tell her?
Would she be willing to keep the child?
Would she be happy upon hearing that she was carrying a baby?
What sort of memories would the mention of the child's father awaken inside her?
Or perhaps...
What if she couldn't remember who the father was at all?
