Chapter 11 - 11

"What do you mean by that!?" I exclaimed.

"You can't just come back after many hours of silence and just say that!" I snapped, pushed my seat back and walked out.

But dad held me back.

"Princess, try to understand our plight. We had to make this decision because we knew it was the best for you." He said pulling me in a hug.

We had gathered together in the kitchen because mum and dad had something important to discuss with me.

And here I was trying to actually see the point in all this.

Mum just sat still not even uttering a word.

I tore myself from dad and ran to her, hugging her tightly pleading.

"Mum, please you can't do this. I..I..–

She just held me and said nothing. She looked like she was holding back tears and didn't have any say in this.

She gave me a solemn smile and went to her room, while dad just stood.

How could they come back from only God knows why and then decide to just move me out!?

"D..dad?"

With tears trickling down my eyes, I slowly slid down the counter letting it all out.

It's not the aspect of them making me move out, it's the fact that I have to leave them.

I know I talk a lot about being an adult but…I still can't do without my parents.

Mum especially.

"Freya…" dad called softly, crouching to my level.

Letting out a soft sigh, he spoke.

"I know this might sound weird or sound like we just woke up one morning and decided not to love you again but…" He paused looking around like trying to hide his tears then continued. "We still love you and this isn't about hating on you but it's about your safety–

"My safety! Dad I'm literally living under you and mum's protection under this room what other protection do I need." I bursted out.

At this point I didn't care if I acted bratty or not but all I wanted was just some clarification.

He huffed out seeing this and stood up.

He looked exhausted but I still couldn't just accept this and didn't care.

"We'll talk tomorrow morning." With that he walked out of the kitchen.

I curled myself up, letting out small sobs I'd kept back in.

I didn't know how minute had gone by, before I headed back to my room.

With a slight headache.

Softly I laid on the bed, wrapped myself in the duvet and slept off my anger.

**

I felt a bit weird like I was being watched.

I turned my head slightly to the direction I felt it to avoid being caught, but it was just mum.

She slowly walked in and sat at the edge of my bed.

I couldn't fully see her reaction because my room was slightly dark.

I heard a loud sigh from her and muttered something.

She softly patted my body as if trying to comfort me.

"I'm so sorry." She whispered, gave a soft kiss on my cheek and left.

'Mum..'

I wanted to call her bad but my voice couldn't allow me.

This was the first time I ever saw my mum like this.

I felt the burning sting in my eyes as tears trickled down.

Quickly, I cleaned it with my duvet and swallowed back any sound that tried to escape my lips.

**

Breakfast was awkward.

To put it in words at least.

Nobody had spoken a word since this morning, and the tension in the room was suffocating.

"Dad?" I spoke, breaking the awkward silence.

"Not now." He grunted, eating his food.

"Honey…we owe her an explanation at least." Mum interjected seeing the way dad brushed me off.

"Well she was too stubborn last night to even listen. Why should I try now." He shrugged.

"Stubborn!!? You came back from only God knows where after not answering my calls getting me all worked up the whole day just for you to come back and tell me that I have to leave!!!"

The anger I had kept in for a while just busted out.

I had no control at this point.

"Freya, you need to calm down." Dad warned.

He had just dropped his utensils and finally had his focus on me.

"You need to let her speak her mind. She's capable of knowing what she wants and what not." Mum spoke up.

"Honey, please…not now–

"And what!? You can't continue to leave her out. Just tell her and let this be over with." She interjected, stood up and left.

I followed suit, leaving dad behind.

Such a lovely family breakfast.

I locked my door and laid on my bed.

My phone came into my mind as I searched for it.

Bingo.

On my desk.

I quickly took it and notified Samantha of my absence.

Sammy:

What happened?

Are you okay ?

She switched immediately, putting it on call.

Immediately I picked up, she bombarded me with questions.

"Girl what happened? Why won't you come today?"

"I'm good. Nothing much, just a slight fever."

"You sure?.... Freya?"

Her voice carried an edge to it, she could sense that something was wrong.

"Yeah."

"Okay then, I'll call you later."

With that she hung up.

Wow.

Such a morning.

Knock knock.

I heard a knock at my door.

"Mum?"

I called out.

I didn't want to talk to dad right now.

I heard some shuffles and a slight cough.

"It's dad princess…please can I come in?"

"Yeah." I murmured softly, sitting up on my bed.

He walked in and sat at the edge of my bed like mum did this morning.

He nervously glanced around my room cleaning his palms on his jeans.

"How are you now?" He asked.

"I'm pretty much the same." I replied and sat up more.

"I.. I'm sorry for the way I acted this morning. It shouldn't have ended up the way it did. And I should have at least explained to you in detail rather than just throwing it at you like that." He let out a loud sigh rubbing his forehead, and continued.

"I never meant you should leave. I thought maybe if we make you live in the school rather than coming from home, it would be safer."

He explained looking at me for any reaction.

I thought he meant I was never gonna live with them anymore.

I may have misjudged their statement.

Maybe I overreacted.

"I'm so sorry dad, I thought you meant something else. You are right, I should have listened." I said looking down.

I might have really gone too far.

Next I felt his hands as he pulled me in a gentle hug.

"It's okay, we all make mistakes. I've misread your mum several times but hey the worst she'd done was kick me out of the room." He joked.

"Dad you really make mum's blood pressure rise don't you?" I smirked as I playfully nudged him.

"Yeah but she still loves me and I'm still her bab–

"Eww, I don't wanna know dad!" I shrieked, pulling away from the hug.

He only laughed harder.

I hate when he does that.

I decided to bring up the main topic here.

"When am I going then?" I glanced at him, slightly playing with my fingers.

"Next week or whenever you are ready. No pushing." He said.

"Okay then."

I replied.

The silence that followed after wasn't awkward, it was just calm since the issue has been resolved.

Dad let out a cough and stood up.

"Do you still want to have breakfast…since we didn't get to y'know?" He said with a hand, rubbing his neck.

"That sounds nice. Where's mum?" I followed suit as we walked out of my room.

"You guys finally made up?" Mum's voice filled the room as we walked into the dining room.

She had been here?

Dad walked up to her, giving her a peck.

Maybe it's not such a bad idea to leave.

Fresh food stared right at me as I took my seat.

Lovely.

"Freya, what do you think?"

What?

Mum rolled her eyes playfully.

"I know the food looks sumptuous, don't get lost."

She joked.

"i asked if you liked the idea of living in the University or–

"Yeah, I might get some experience and maybe learn to socialize more with people." I cut her off.

"Oh..well that sums it up then. We'll celebrate this night. Our little princess has finally grown up." She said with an exaggerated sigh.

With dad doing the same.

I'm not a kid anymore.

Gosh.

I bet they didn't even hear me when they were too occupied with themselves.

Haaaa.

I love them.
