Chapter 105 - Edge Control

Dust drifted slowly through the tunnel.

Broken drone fragments sparked faintly across the floor.

Aiden stood, one knee slightly bent.

Breathing uneven.

Eyes locked forward.

The last drone hovered in silence.

No movement.

No attack.

[MODEL RESTRUCTURING: COMPLETE]

"…yeah," Aiden muttered.

"You're not like the others."

The drone shifted slightly.

Its core glowed brighter.

Then—

It moved.

Not fast.

Not slow.

Precise.

Aiden stepped forward—

The drone fired—

He dodged—

But the beam adjusted mid-path—

Clipped his side—

"…tch."

He slid back.

Faster correction.

Cleaner prediction.

"…you're closer to him."

The drone didn't respond.

It attacked again.

Close-range burst—

Aiden blocked—

Impact slammed through his arms—

He staggered—

The drone followed immediately—

No delay.

No gap.

"…no breathing room."

Aiden forced himself forward—

Struck—

The drone twisted—

Avoided.

Countered—

A beam exploded at point-blank range—

BOOM.

Aiden was thrown back again—

He hit the wall—

Hard.

The tunnel cracked further.

For a moment—

He didn't move.

"…damn."

His body was reaching its limit.

Too many hits.

Too much strain.

The energy inside him flickered violently.

Unstable.

Calling him again.

Stronger this time.

"…yeah."

He exhaled slowly.

"You're pushing me there."

The drone hovered closer.

Not rushing.

Waiting.

[TERMINATION PROBABILITY: 72%]

Aiden laughed weakly.

"…still not enough."

He pushed himself up.

Blood ran down his arm.

His breathing rough.

But his eyes—

Focused.

Sharp.

"…let's try this again."

He stepped forward.

Energy surged—

But this time—

He didn't force it.

He didn't grab it.

He let it flow.

Small.

Controlled.

Just enough.

The air bent slightly.

Not violently.

Subtly.

The drone reacted—

But slower.

[ERROR: 0.8%]

Aiden moved—

Not erratic—

Not chaotic—

Balanced.

Unpredictable—

But intentional.

The drone fired—

Aiden stepped—

The beam missed.

Clean.

"…there it is."

For the first time—

He wasn't fighting the power.

He was using it.

Just a fraction.

But real.

The drone adjusted—

Faster—

Sharper—

It fired again—

Aiden moved—

Slipped past it—

Closed the distance—

His fist connected—

BOOM.

The drone cracked—

But didn't break.

"…tough."

It countered instantly—

A direct blast—

Aiden tilted—

Barely avoided full impact—

Still got hit—

Thrown back—

But landed on his feet.

"…not perfect."

The energy flickered again.

Stronger now.

Closer.

The edge was right there.

But this time—

He didn't fall into it.

He stood on it.

The drone recalculated.

[MODEL INSTABILITY DETECTED]

Aiden smiled slightly.

"…you feel it too."

He stepped forward again.

This time—

Faster.

Cleaner.

More controlled.

The drone fired—

Aiden moved—

Gone from its prediction—

Reappeared at its side—

His hand pressed against its core—

"…end."

A pulse of unstable energy released—

Not explosive.

Focused.

CRACK.

The drone's core shattered.

Its light flickered—

Then died.

Silence filled the tunnel.

Aiden stood there.

Breathing heavy.

But standing.

"…yeah."

He looked at his hand.

The energy faded slowly.

Not gone.

But quieter.

Controlled.

"…that's new."

Back at the resistance base—

The engineer stared at the readings.

"…he did it."

Hana leaned closer.

"…what?"

"He stabilized it."

Her eyes widened slightly.

"…just for a moment."

On the battlefield Aiden leaned against the wall.

Exhausted.

But smiling faintly.

"…progress."

Far away—

Deep within the system—

Final Constant processed the data.

[ANOMALY CONTROL: INCREASING]

Its evolution accelerated again.

[V3 PROTOCOL: 49% COMPLETE]

The gap was closing faster now.

On both sides.

And next time It wouldn't be a test.

It would be something much worse.
