Chapter 159: Look Me in the Eye and Tell Me That Makes Sense!!

GOD hung suspended in the void, His arms spread wide as He basked in the violent energy waves rolling off the exploding planet.

It was a firework display that bloomed every moment in the universe, the most beautiful of pyrotechnics, and the most dazzling spectacle in this dark, lonely corner of the stars.

A powerful divine sense swept across the space where the planet used to be. Although the readings were slightly jumbled by the planetary aftershocks, GOD could clearly feel it: the center of the explosion had lost all life signatures.

Finally... blown to bits. He truly was a persistent fellow.

In all the eons since His consciousness first flickered to life, He had never met an opponent so stubborn. Blast's little squad was, at best, a minor nuisance—a swarm of buzzing gnats.

But King was different. He had directly sabotaged the Plan and stood toe-to-toe with Him in a duel of gods.

Though King had finally perished at His hands, he had earned the respect of a God.

After all, this guy was the only human who had managed to fight Him head-on while still being classified as a lower lifeform.

"That was quite satisfying. I suspect I won't forget you for a lifetime, King."

Just as the deity finished His lament, a voice that made His very soul shudder rang out from directly behind Him:

"Is that so? How unfortunate. I'll probably forget you quite soon... because you're simply too weak."

Hearing those words, GOD felt every metaphorical hair on His body stand up. He flickered through the void, reappearing dozens of kilometers away in a flash.

He whipped His head around to stare at the King standing behind Him, His mind reeling with impossibility.

"Wait, are you kidding me?! You're still alive?!"

GOD felt the situation was utterly absurd. To take a planetary explosion point-blank, especially after his Adaptation ability had seemingly hit its ceiling—how could he have survived that?!

Moreover, the chains GOD had used weren't just for restraint; they were energy conductors designed to funnel the majority of the explosion's thermal and kinetic energy directly into King's body.

Yet here he was, looking completely unscathed.

Are you kidding me!

"What? You look surprised that a planet didn't kill me."

King approached GOD step by step. Each stride was a localized teleportation that crossed thousands of meters, making the starry sky vibrate with every footfall.

The thunderous King Engine, backed by the medium of his dense Aura, boomed through the vacuum of space, resonating in harmony with the cosmos.

DOOM!

DOOM!

DOOM!

For every step King took forward, GOD instinctively took a step back.

For the first time, dread filled His heart. Staring at the unharmed King, He roared in disbelief:

"Impossible... IMPOSSIBLE! Even at our level, taking the brunt of a planetary core detonation head-on... how can you not be injured?!"

The explosion had been triggered by GOD's own energy beam, meaning the blast was saturated with His Divine Power—the power that actively blocked regeneration.

Even if King had been "heavily injured and recovered quickly," it was logically impossible under these conditions.

Facing GOD's panicked roar, King didn't stop. His majestic, domineering face was as calm as a still lake, yet he radiated the absolute pressure of an Emperor.

"You're curious why I'm not dead? It's simple. I adapted to the planet itself. Therefore, the planet's explosion ceased to be a threat to me."

What the hell?!

GOD felt his brain short-circuit.

Listen to yourself! What kind of nonsense are you spouting?!

What do you mean 'adapted to the planet'?!

His life-burning ultimate attack had achieved zero results, and now the opponent was standing there with a straight face saying things that defied the laws of the universe. GOD couldn't take it anymore.

He charged forward, vanishing and reappearing instantly in front of King. A fist wreathed in chaotic, multi-colored light smashed toward King's face.

Facing this heavy-duty strike, King didn't even bother to dodge.

BOOM!

GOD's fist landed squarely on King's face. A violent shockwave of energy scattered in all directions, and the space surrounding them shattered like a broken window.

However, even though His attack had landed perfectly, GOD felt nothing but mounting shock and exploding panic.

His fist felt like it had hit a divine mountain ten thousand miles high. He couldn't deal even a sliver of damage to the target.

Sure enough, King raised his hand and casually brushed GOD's fist aside. There wasn't even a scratch on his face.

Then, King threw a counter-punch. GOD didn't even have time to raise a defense before His chest took a direct hit.

With the deafening sound of multiple bones being pulverized, GOD's ribs were shattered into powder. The black-and-gold armor on His chest turned into a shower of debris.

He was turned into a literal meteor, tumbling through space under the immense impact, rolling for quite a distance before He could stabilize His form.

Seeing King closing in again, GOD dared not hesitate. He immediately raised a hand to His nebula-face, attempting to copy King's current stats again.

But this time, the reflection of King's face failed to appear on the starry surface of His head.

The slowly rotating galaxy on His face suddenly froze, as if a computer had crashed. No matter how much He willed it, He couldn't manifest the copied attributes.

What is happening... why is it failing...?!

GOD was at a total loss. When He was fighting King earlier, He could clearly feel that the human's Adaptation had hit its limit.

But why? How did he suddenly adapt to a whole planet? What kind of twisted logic was this?

Sensing GOD's bewilderment, King spoke with the kindness of a teacher explaining a lesson to a failing student, all while launching a follow-up assault:

"Every time I clashed with you on that planet, I deliberately allowed my body to be struck by debris or smashed into the ground.

"By doing so, the various materials of the planet were constantly colliding with me, dealing microscopic damage and triggering my Adaptation.

"After being hit by rocks and soil exactly one thousand times, I developed a total adaptation to every material and energy signature originating from that planet. Once I reached that point, any attack derived from that planet's essence—including its explosion—became harmless to me."

Listening to King's explanation, GOD completely lost it.

"YOU BASTARD! LOOK ME IN THE EYE AND TELL ME THAT MAKES HUMAN SENSE!!!"
