Chapter 158: It Seems Your Adaptation Has Reached Its Limit

Violent explosions rocked the planetary surface. The heavens changed color as the very world began to tear itself apart.
Amidst the shower of celestial debris, two streaks of light clashed relentlessly. Every punch and kick, though appearing simple, carried the weight of ultimate destruction.
At their current level, "technique" had lost most of its meaning. It was a war of pure magnitude. Whoever possessed the higher scale of power would simply grind the other into the dust.
King's fist roared toward GOD, the atmospheric friction screaming like a dying beast.
GOD didn't even attempt to dodge—he couldn't. He met the attack head-on with a fist of his own.
Their Vitality and fists collided. A searing, berserk wave of Life Force erupted from the point of impact, sweeping outward in a tide of destruction. The ground beneath them turned into fine powder instantly, forming a bottomless black abyss.
King and GOD's fists were locked in a stalemate for less than 0.1 seconds before GOD's hand disintegrated, turning into a mist of blood and light.
King's strength had climbed again. His body was steadily adapting to GOD's power and defense, and that adaptation was still accelerating.
Staring at his shattered hand, GOD realized King was reaching a new peak—and the jump in stats this time was significant.
To prevent himself from being numerically stomped, GOD copied King's current stats again and re-engaged.
As they traded blows, King noticed something unexpected: the minor injuries he was taking were regenerating much slower than before.
He looked closely at his wounds. They were wreathed in a flickering, multi-colored energy—the Chaotic Essence of GOD.
So it's anti-regeneration energy... truly a troublesome fellow...
This was the first time King had faced someone this tricky. Compared to his fight with Boros, GOD was proving to be a much more frustrating opponent.
Not only were the injuries lingering, but King couldn't enjoy his usual overwhelming stat advantage. Even as he grew stronger through adaptation, GOD would simply mirror his stats, keeping them on the same numerical level.

King came up with a plan, a faint smirk playing on his lips.
The battle raged on. The desolate planet was now a ruin. Magma gushed from the deep crust as the entire world trembled violently, on the verge of total structural failure.
Suddenly, GOD noticed something odd about King.
His strength... why hasn't it increased again?
In their previous exchanges, King's power had spiked every few seconds.
But now, a full twenty seconds had passed without a single increase. Their stats seemed to have stabilized at a fixed level.
A thought struck GOD.
Could it be... that his adaptation has finally hit its ceiling...?
It's about time.
In GOD's view, King's adaptation was an absurd, logic-defying ability that allowed him to ignore seals and scale his power infinitely. But such an ability had to have a limit. Without a ceiling, it was nothing more than a literal cheat code.
It seems he's reached his current maximum range. He can no longer adapt to my output in the short term.
With that thought, GOD devised a plan of his own.

The two combatants fought on, each harboring their own secret schemes while maintaining a facade of absolute bloodlust.
As King's fist grazed past GOD's head, the deity—who had been waiting for this exact opening—finally struck.
He stepped forward, chaotic light erupting from his right palm. He fired a maximum-output Divine Energy Cannon point-blank at King's chest.

King dodged by a hair's breadth. Although a portion of his side was grazed, his thick Aura-armor absorbed the shockwave, and he remained largely unharmed.
But behind him, the energy beam GOD had released didn't stop. It pierced through the planet's crust and plunged directly into its core.
The detonation of the energy beam within the planetary core was the final straw.
The internal energy of the planet began to collapse into a singularity. In moments, it would reach its limit and explode, turning the world into cosmic dust.
GOD didn't hesitate. He shot into the sky like a streak of light, putting distance between himself and the dying world.
Even for someone of his level, taking a planetary explosion to the face wouldn't be pleasant. He wouldn't die, but he would definitely take significant damage.
King realized the danger and prepared to break through the atmosphere as well. But suddenly, from the fractured ground beneath him, hundreds of chains wreathed in chaotic colors shot out at extreme speed.
They moved so fast that even King couldn't evade them instantly. He was ensnared and dragged back toward the surface.
He looked up. GOD was floating safely in the vacuum of space, looking slightly hunched—as if He had drained himself to unleash this move.
GOD spread His arms wide before the doomed planet, looking down like a heartless Creator.
His nebula-face looked down at King, who was pinned to the crust by the divine chains. His voice was dripping with mockery:
"It seems your adaptation has indeed reached its limit. You won't be breaking these chains anytime soon.
"This is an essence-binding technique. I burned my own life source and combined it with the planet's energy to forge these shackles. Even you will need tens of seconds to break them.
"So... tell me. How many seconds do you think this planet has left before it blows?"
GOD held up three fingers, folding them one by one.
"3."
"2."
"1."
BOOM!!!
The planet beneath King detonated. A brilliant, blinding flash of light filled the sector, and a violent shockwave rocked the very fabric of the void.
