Haylen's POV:
He grinned at me, "Hi, Hay."
I grinned back, "Hi."
He came closer to me under the watchful eyes of his friends and Zoe, before crouching to my level and…
A soft, warm feeling spread on my forehead.
Warm, soft, comforting. Feelings that were foreign yet nice.
He pulled away after pecking my forehead.
"You…" I stared at him, dazed.
"Thank you for yesterday, I really appreciate."
He said before winking at me and walking away.
I still stood frozen. I was tongue tied. I was equally shocked as everyone else.
Jacean had smiled at no one but me, he had kissed me in front of other students.
"I thought it was just rumors, but now I believe they are dating."
"They will look really cute together. But how sure are you Jacean won't end up as one of her play toys?."
"I thought he was with Zoe."
"Shh, lower your voices, she might hear us."
Students whispered among themselves.
"That kiss seemed real and so full of love. I couldn't believe you have the ability to bewitch him so fast in the short while." Zoe said beside me. I had even forgotten she was right with me.
"Yeah." I smiled tightly.
"By the way, 'thank you for yesterday' what did you do that made him say such?."
"Oh, well, I…"
She nudged me, "Anyways, goodluck, Hay. You are making the plan go really well. In no time Jacean would fall completely in love with you and then after that I will watch as you break his heart into million pieces." She said cheerfully I had to look at her.
The look of satisfaction and hate and triumph was clear in her brown eyes. A part of me felt disgusted by her expression. How could she be so happy to harm someone she was once in love with?
But then, I cleared the thoughts.
It was stupid and silly of me to label Zoe as heartless, when I was the one that brought up the suggestion of breaking Jacean emotionally.
I just had to make sure to do one thing, I need to talk Zoe.
I couldn't bear to do such to Jacean. He was already broken and lacks emotional support.
I couldn't be the reason why he should go through the emotional torture his mom put him through again.

School was already over, and Zoe didn't find any perfect goddamned time to tell me about her boyfriend coming to see her around until now.
Like freaking now.
"Are you out of your mind?." I glanced at myself in the window of the classroom, "your man's coming today and you didn't let me know earlier until now?."
She cracked her neck, "I thought it wasn't necessary, "I thought it wasn't necessary."
"I look like a mess," I touched my blonde cinnamon hair, "I don't think I can see him today, maybe tomorrow. My skin is pale."
"We are meeting my boyfriend, not husband," she rolled her eyes, "Why you being too concerned?."
"Oh, so I should present myself looking like a mad woman to see the guy who might turn out to be my brother- in- law?."
"You care about your looks so much it's annoying." Through the mirror, I could see the somewhat bitter expression on her face, but in less than a second, she switched it to that of a playful annoyed look.
Was I hallucinating?

.
We walked out of school and started strolling down the street since Zoe said there was no need for using a car when he (her boyfriend) was already closeby, driving.
We had merely walked for ten minutes when a red racing car pulled up right beside us, roughly.
I nearly jumped up due to fear.
I fumed, "Are you crazy? Does this place look like a racing spot to you? What if this goddamned car hit me!?." I kept ranting until a lanky green haired guy stepped out of the car with an apologetic smile.
He looked…a bit like Jiro Wang indeed.
But what's with the cabbage looking hair?
Could it be…?
"Stanley!." Zoe rushed forward to hug him. Stanley—or whatsoever his name could be hugged her back, both exchanging love talks like couples that have been separated for years.
I pursed my lips in irritation. Wasn't he the guy Zoe had known, for not more than 4 days? How could she have fallen in love with him so fast and easily? She was really gullible.
They pulled away from each other.
"Hay, meet my boyfriend, Stanley, Stanley, this is my best friend, Haylen." She introduced us.
I expected Stanley to just smile and continue his 'conversation' with Zoe because of the icy and uninterested look on my face, but instead, he pulled his hand out for a handshake.
"Nice to meet you, Hay."
"Haylen, not Hay." I said irritatedly. How could he call me by my nickname?
"Oh," he gave an awkward smile, "Nice to meet you Haylen."
'Can't say same about you' almost rolled from my tongue as I offered him a tight smile.
There was just something I didn't like about this guy.
His broccoli colored hair included.
Which sane person on earth would actually dye their hair the same color as that of cabbage?
His sense of fashion too gave me the 'Icks.'
"Nice to meet you too, Stanley." I pulled my hand away from his.
"Zoe told me you're a pretty fellow, but I didn't believe you could be this pretty, like Medusa the cursed in the Ancient Greek myth."
"Have you seen her before?." I asked, fully aware of what he was talking about.
He shook his head, "No, but everyone knows she's the beauty then. A beauty that was cursed because of her ethereal looks."
I clicked my tongue, "How could you assume someone is beautiful even without ever setting your eyes on her?."
"Well…" he scratched his neck awkwardly.
Zoe nudged me on the shoulder, "Can't you tell he's obviously trying to compliment you?."
She muttered.
I rolled my eyes, "He's complimenting me in the Shakespeare's way. I'm not into myths or poetry so he should go straight to just saying I'm pretty or beautiful."
"Haylen." She warned.
"Sorry sorry," I rolled my eyes again before smiling at Stanley, "Sorry if I made you nervous, I was joking earlier. I don't really know much about the Ancient Greek mythology you know."
