Chapter 15 - Chapter Forteen

Haylen's POV:

In the morning at school, Zoe pretended not to have seen me when I was walking in to school and I, in return treated her like an air.

I just couldn't let my ego down to talk to her first or even apologize.

Arranging my things in my locker just after finishing the last class before lunch, I didn't notice someone was behind me until I hit my head on a solid chest.

I groaned in pain, rubbing my back head as I turned around to see who the dumbass was.

Damn.

It was Jacean.

He stood, his hands tucked in his pockets with that stoic face of his, his brown hair this time was brushed back, while some still fell over his forehead.

His blue eyes penetrated into my grey ones.

The moment I made eye contact with him, our chat last night crossed my mind. I couldn't help but feel slightly angry at him for not replying me.

"Jacean."

"Haylen." He extended his hand for a handshake, a small smile forming by the corner of his mouth.

I stared at his hand for a second before shaking it.

"How was your night?." He asked.

I withdrew my hand as the thought of him ignoring my text crossed my mind. Again.

"It was nice. Though a flat ass nigga had ignored my message."

Laughing, he brushed his brown hair.

Did this guy have any idea how sexy and attractive he looked when he did that?

"Sorry, I was concentrating on the game I was playing and had to come offline."

If I say I didn't feel a pang of hurt in my chest, I'd be lying.

He dared leave my message because of an ordinary game? I felt my ego bruised.

"Okay."

"So you are coming for lunch aint you?."

I nodded my head as I tugged some strands of my hair behind my ears, "Yeah I am."

From my peripheral view, I could see Zoe standing by a corner with Charles with a scowl on her face.

I looked away from Jacean.

Even though I was mad at Zoe, I won his want her to think I was using Jacean—her weak point to spite her.

She was still my friend.

My gnarly.

"OK, I'll see you around." He muttered.

I smiled, but didn't say anything.

Walking away, I didn't spare a single glance at some students secretly watching me talk with Jacean.

Such gossipers.

"First Tim e for you and Zoe to quarrel, over such trivial stuff at that." Charles said as he reclined lazily on the chair.

I flipped the pages of science and man textbook absentmindedly.

"Who said we are beefing?," I gave him a questioning look, "we only gave a little misunderstanding."

He rolled his eyes, "Little misunderstanding my foot."

I twirled my hair around my finger, " Zoe complaint to you, right?"

"Not like complained," He shrugged. "more like answering a question. I noticed the still air between you two and decided to ask her."

I folded my hands, "She's way to self-centered for my liking."

"Do you know the woman? The woman you defended? I'm not trying to take Zoe's side or anything, but based on what I have known about you inside out, I didn't think you'd react like that at Zoe . You even scared her boyfriend—."

"How could you address 'that' as boyfriend? he's so freaking annoying and looks like a walking broccoli," I clicked my tongue, " I don't have time for Zoe, when I do I'll talk to her so now you don't need to persuade me to do a thing."

Charles sighed, "You guys are just being childish for real."

Walking down the hallway, I spotted Jacean leaning against the wall, staring blankly at Monica, who was talking very abnormally "sweet" to him. What got my attention however was the closeness between them. It seemed she was nearly leaning against him. That made me testy.

I matched towards them with a soft, fake smile.

They turned to me.

"Hey."

Jacean's stoic face broke into a smile when he saw me, "Haylen."

I looked at Monica, who seemed like she wanted to cut me into shreds.

Jacean was my prey not hers, so she needed to stay away from him.

You shouldn't touch any of Haylen Denvers' property.

I snaked my arm around Jacean's with an innocent grin on my face.

"Just twenty minutes of not seeing you makes me want to bed you so badly right now. You look so edible."

I said loudly enough for Monica to hear.

I expected Jacean to snort or even pull away.

But surprisingly, Jacean didn't seem to be annoyed or irritated by my action.

Well, that was odd.

Monica clenched her fists, "Haylen, I'm having an important conversation with Jacean, so will you please excuse us?."

I rubbed my forehead, "What important conversation would you possibly have with my boyfriend that I have to excuse both of you? I hate when girls stick around him like a gum, trying to snatch him away from me."

" Are you calling me a man snatcher?." She pointed at herself.

I scoffed, "If not you, who else?."

She wanted to talk back, before stomping her feet in anger and walked away.

I placed my hands on my waist and smiled in triumph.

Served you right, Monica.

"you know, to be an actress would really suit you." Came Jacean's deep voice. I turned to face him. For a moment, I forgot he was here. "Because of my face card? I'll take that as a compliment."

I grinned at him, trying to ignore the s heat creeping on my neck as his blue eyes gazed at me.

"I'd really like to know when I became your man." He smiled sensually.

This guy knows what he's doing.

I decided to play along too.

Maintaining eye contact with him, I traced my finger over his noticeable abs hidden beneath the shirt he wore.

Damn, Damn, damn.

"I told you already, you became my man since the day you saved my dog—." I was yet to complete my words when I was pushed softly to the wall.

My eyes widened.
