Chapter 218 The Place a Man Should Go
"You've even studied Tree-man Language?"
Finney asked, surprised.
"Yes, it was an elective. I thought it might be easy, but it turned out to be quite difficult!"
Thor complained, a hint of regret on his face.
"Can I learn it?"
Finney asked, intrigued. Tree-man Language wasn't even included in translators, but because Tree-men were extremely rare, it didn't matter much.
"Uh…"
Thor hesitated, looking at Finney's curious expression with confusion. He still told Finney where the textbook was, then continued, "What are you planning to do in space?"
"No specific purpose, just want to see some aliens or something!"
Finney didn't tell Thor it was to gain experience and find food for the Blue-Eyes White Dragon.
Thor nodded, showing no interest. Although he rarely left the Nine Realms, he had been to other star systems before.
"Are the Tesseract and the Scepter alright?"
Thor had been worried that these two items would bring chaos to Earth, but so far, Earth seemed to be the most peaceful of the Nine Realms besides Asgard.
"No problem!"
Finney didn't tell Thor that the Tesseract was gone, and had instead become the 'White Dragon's Food'.
The two chatted idly, Thor's mood shifting from excitement and joy to gloom. Perhaps because he had seen Finney, he now missed Earth, and thinking of Earth reminded him of his girlfriend.
Thor was never good at hiding his feelings, and the expression on his face immediately revealed his thoughts to Finney, who couldn't help but ask, "Missing your girlfriend?"
Thor shook his head, took a large gulp of his drink, and slowly said, "Heimdall said she's doing very well now, a professor at some university called St. John's University, and very popular!"
"Speaking of which, don't you have any treasures that can extend lifespan?"
Finney couldn't help but ask curiously.
Although even if Jane gained five thousand years of lifespan, Odin probably still wouldn't agree to her marriage with Thor, at least it wouldn't be like now, with no chance at all.
Thor's face darkened, then he shook his head and replied, "I know things that consume lifespan, but as for things that increase lifespan, I asked my mother, and she hasn't heard of any."
Hearing this, Finney was somewhat surprised. It seemed that Thor hadn't completely ignored the possibility of extending Jane's lifespan.
"Alright!"
Finney could only sigh at this. Actually, he could extend someone's lifespan now.
Using 'Zeffect: Fourth Bullet', he could reverse a person's time. As long as he kept reversing time until the person died of old age, it seemed to be a kind of immortality.
Of course, the premise was that there had to be enough time to consume it.
The banquet continued until very late. Four consecutive days of revelry hadn't caused any discomfort to the Asgardians, but Finney felt extremely tired. Fortunately, this was the last one.
The next day, Phineas got up early and, instead of rushing to the library to find the tree-language books Thor had mentioned, first checked on the Blue-Eyes White Dragon's condition.
For the past few days, he hadn't been able to transform the Blue-Eyes White Dragon back into its card form, setting a record for the longest possible transformation in history.
Phineas didn't know how wealthy Asgard was, but the fact that they could build such a massive palace out of gold showed they were indeed very rich.
So, these past few days, the Blue-Eyes White Dragon had been living even more comfortably than him, spending its days eating and sleeping.
Upon his arrival, the Blue-Eyes White Dragon let out a soft hiss. Although it hadn't developed any intelligent or autonomous consciousness, it wasn't entirely a puppet.
After thanking the maids and guards who cared for the Blue-Eyes White Dragon, Finney didn't turn it back into a card.
Although he didn't know how the things Asgard fed the Blue-Eyes White Dragon were made, based on his observations, their energy wasn't much weaker than a small arc reactor, so it would be ideal if it could evolve in Asgard.
Finney then prepared to go to the library to learn the Treefolk language, but he was intercepted by the Warriors Three of Asgard halfway there.
"I knew you'd come here today!"
Fandral said, as if he hadn't expected it, and then pulled over the puzzled Finney, saying, "We absolutely can't let you stay in the library any longer today. We'll take you somewhere interesting."
Over the past few days, his relationship with the three had become increasingly friendly due to drinking, which was why Fandral was so unrestrained.
"But I think your library is quite interesting!"
Finney said helplessly, as Fandral and Hogan dragged him by the arms.
"That's because you haven't been to other places yet!"
Volstagg added from the side, "Today we'll take you to a place where men should be!"
"Huh!?"
Finney was slightly taken aback. Volstagg's words made him a little restless. A place where men should be? Was that what he imagined!?
However, when they arrived at the place, Finney realized he was wrong. Volstagg had taken him to a place resembling an arena.
In the arena was a warrior and a giant beast that Finney couldn't name. It was huge, with thick limbs and a very ugly appearance.
"That's it!"
Finney was a little disappointed. He thought it would be some interesting place, but it turned out to be just watching people fight, and with such an ugly monster at that.
Seeing the warrior in the arena narrowly dodge an attack from the monster, Volstagg cheered along with the surrounding crowd, then turned to Finney and said, "This is where warriors should be!"
Finney rolled his eyes, not reiterating that he was a mage, and looked at the monster attacking wildly in the arena, showing some interest.
"What kind of monster is that?"
Finney asked Fandral beside him.
"A Frost Beast, a creature from Jotunheim. It's incredibly strong and fast, but a bit dim-witted. It usually prefers to stay in cold places!"
Hearing Fandral's words, Finney looked at the ugly monster on the field again in surprise.
The battle was intense, with cheers and shouts never ceasing. Influenced by this atmosphere, Finney watched with great interest.
Aside from the Asgardian warrior and the Frost Beast, both seemed rather weak.
During this time, Finney had also discovered that not all Asgardians were strong; ordinary Asgardian warriors weren't ridiculously powerful. The
truly powerful ones were those with Odin's bloodline and those Asgardians who had awakened divine power, such as Heimdall and Frigga.
"Speaking of which, you seem to have a huge white dragon!"
Fandral suddenly asked curiously about Finney's blue-eyed white dragon, saying, "Heimdall said it seemed to appear suddenly; he'd never seen such a creature before."
"It was summoned by my magic. If nothing unexpected happens, there should only be one in the entire universe!"
Finney explained, secretly thinking that Heimdall seemed to be paying close attention to him!
