I felt the cool breeze blow up my legs as they dangled from the cliff. I told myself not to look down, but I couldn't help it.
The sea was right under the cliff, its malevolent waves crashing against the rocks. It felt like they were protesting on my behalf, or warning me of the dangers that were ahead of me.
A fall from the cliff would lead me straight to my untimely death, and I didn't want that. There was no guarantee that I'd wake up in my world. I could be gone forever.
"Don't let me go!" I yelled at Evie whose hand was still wrapped around my wrist. "Please don't let me go."
Her smile turned sinister. "Oh, now you want to beg. Maybe I should just drop you. I mean no one will miss you anyways."
Then she sighed. "You're very lucky I still have use for you. It's the only reason I haven't gotten rid of you."
"Why would you want to get rid of me?" I asked, shrieking when the waves crashed loudly against the rocks again.
