Two hours later, Room 206 fell silent. The two bodyguards, their task complete, slipped away as if they had never been there.
At the same time, the sounds from Room 219 also ceased.
The room was dark, devoid of light, until a phone on the nightstand suddenly rang, casting a faint glow.
Ethan Kingsley climbed out of bed and picked up the phone.
He glanced at the caller ID: Claire Sinclair.
A slight smile touched Ethan Kingsley's lips. Without so much as a glance at the woman "passed out" on the bed, he grabbed the bathrobe from the bedside, slipped it on, and walked out onto the balcony.
He answered the call. "Star Reporter Sinclair, what's up?"
Claire Sinclair's calm voice came from the other end. "When does your party end?"
"Not for a while. It ends at midnight."
"I'll head over in a bit."
With that, she hung up.
Ethan Kingsley's lips curled into a smirk. He gazed out at the quiet backyard, a feeling of delight washing over him.
