'This is the old family estate, after all,' she thought. 'And if Mrs. Redgrave finds out... who knows what will happen.'
Hannah pursed her lips. She had just started up the stairs when Zachary yanked her back, causing her to nearly stumble and fall.
"Have you lost your mind? Are you really walking straight into the lion's den?"
Zachary was completely oblivious to the death glare from nearby and just kept rambling on.
"Don't worry, I'll be fine."
Hannah pulled her hand from Zachary's grasp and continued up the stairs.
Zachary looked utterly heartbroken, as if his most cherished treasure was about to be snatched away. "My phone will be on twenty-four-seven. If anything happens, remember to call me. Or just scream—my room is right next to yours, anyway."
'He made it sound as if his uncle was some kind of heinous pervert.'
In truth, Hannah wasn't worried that Nathan would do anything inappropriate. They had slept in the same room before, and it had always been perfectly peaceful.
