"Yes, Madam Redgrave was a bit tired today. She went to her room to rest after dinner."
Hannah Hale looked at Nathan Redgrave and asked in confusion, "Didn't you say Grandma wanted to see us about something?"
"Yes, that's what Grandma told me."
Nathan Redgrave sat on the sofa, his legs crossed. His calm and composed demeanor showed not the slightest hint of panic at having his lie exposed. On the contrary, he continued to spout nonsense with a perfectly straight face.
"Since Grandma's already asleep, we should go."
Nathan Redgrave glanced down at the watch on his wrist. "It's already very late," he said, his deep voice rich and magnetic. "Let's just stay here tonight."
Hannah Hale watched him, her crystal-clear eyes filled with a flicker of confusion and a complex mix of other emotions.
'He seems a little different today,' she thought. In the past, he would have never, under any circumstances, been willing to share a room with her.
