In front of the tombstone, many people heard Aurora Sterling's sudden declaration: "I'm not leaving."
No one understood why Aurora would say something so random at a moment like this.
'What did she mean, leaving or not leaving?'
'Does she mean she's going to stay at the cemetery forever?'
Only Timothy Sterling, standing closest to Aurora, understood. He looked at her with a complex expression, unsure in that moment whether he should be happy or alarmed.
He knew exactly why Aurora had chosen to stay.
Mrs. Sterling had been murdered, and the identity of her killer remained a mystery. Aurora's decision to stay now was certainly for the same reason she'd sought revenge for her mother and sister: to avenge her grandmother.
Timothy Sterling had no close family left, so he desperately hoped this daughter he had only just gotten back would stay. And yet, deep down, he was afraid of her.
"Aurora..." Timothy Sterling paused, then continued, "You're still just a child."
